Hi everyone,
Just a reminder the season starts tomorrow morning, Saturday April 1st.
Everything will be at Ferrymead Park, on the back senior field, which is nearest to the gondola.
The first Saturday this year is going to be an introduction "Club Day". Xavier Morin from Mainland Football is coming out to deliver the sessions. The idea behind this is that he will be including parents as Game Leaders and outline the roles that active parents need to play in order to make the sessions successful.
On any given Saturday the kids are split into groups of no more than 10 (2 x 5-a-side) and go through a station rotation. Each station is overseen by a parent (Game Leader), who has a game card so knows what they are doing. It's pretty simple stuff. Savanah and Omar will ensure Game Leaders are in place and equipment is sorted for the day.
See the link below for the NZ Football Junior Framework - it's quite in depth, but if you can take time to flick through the relevant bits, you get a good understanding of the programme.,

So...2 things:
1. The Saturday will be broken into 2 sessions.
First Kicks for kids turning 4, 5 or 6 in 2017 will be from 9am to 10.15am.
Fun Football for kids turning 7 or 8 in 2017 will be from 10.30am to 11.45am.
But on Saturdays after that, the sessions will run together from 9am-10am.
2. You will realise we're on the lookout for active parents - we need parent help to run the programme successfully. This is as we've done over the last few years. Please let me know by return if at this stage you're prepared to assist on Saturdays. It's all good fun.
Remember, kids can wear what they want as sports gear but will need boots, shin pads and water bottles.
We'll organise a mid-week session for Fun Footballers in Term 2.
Registrations for First Kicks/Fun Football keep coming in throughout the season so I'll be updating everyone again in due course.
