Steven began his career in the professional top tier academies of Go Ahead Eagles, Vitesse Arnhem and NEC Nijmegen in The Netherlands. He also played for the Dutch national youth teams before beginning his professional career abroad in Iceland, Australia, The Faroe Islands and more recently in New Zealand with Christchurch United FC.

‘The best thing about being a goalkeeper is that as a goalkeeper you have a decisive role on the field where one moment is enough to make the difference. The adrenaline rush, the fun on the field, it all comes together in the match. This in my perspective is amazing!

My name is Connor Caswell, currently senior and academy goalkeeper coach for Christchurch United FC and has playing experience at the semi pro level in Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.

I want to start this academy because of the opportunities to help develop and challenge goalkeepers in New Zealand as I believe goalkeeping is still an overlooked position and passing on Steven’s and my knowledge to kids wanting to be goalkeepers is our goal 💪🏼🧤
