Special Awards - Junior prize giving
To support the fab photos posted, below are the commentaries for the award recipients
🏏Female Player of the Year - Milla Greenfield.
Milla contributes every single week through effort, attitude, consistent performances and growing confidence. Her standout moment was a superb 39 off 36 balls against a strong St Andrew’s side, showing real composure under pressure. Across the season she scored 158 runs at an excellent average of 31.6.
She is a very reliable bowler, bowling a consistent line and length. She captured 10 wickets with an economy rate of 5.3 and a best of 3-6. She has also impressed as a tidy, reliable wicketkeeper. Her passion for the game shines through across all disciplines.
I have no doubt we will see her name in team announcements for Canterbury and White Ferns in years to come.
🏏Year 7 Player of the Year - Archie Black
Archie joined the Kererū this season and immediately made his mark. His ability, maturity, easy-going nature and sharp cricketing instincts stood out from day one. He opened the season with an impressive 3-3 from 3 overs. It wasn't long before he showed his capability with the bat with a 46no in week 3, and he never looked back.
With 13 wickets, the best bowling economy rate in the team of 4.25, consistently strong batting performances, and excellent fielding and keeping (he took the most catches this season), he has been a true all‑round force.
🏏Year 6 Player of the Year - Vinnie Wood
This player was our most consistent player with both bat and ball throughout the season. He often turned games in our favour through his stroke play, positive running between the wickets or tight bowling.
He plays the game in the right way and is always respectful to the opposition and positive to all of his teammates. It has been a great pleasure being able to coach him this year and he will have a big future in cricket as he has a great attitude.
