Junior cricket myth #1: Cricket takes all weekend

FALSE - Junior cricket is m ostly Saturday mornings. Most games are under 2 hours, with one training session per week.

Our Smash Play skills based cricket runs for just one hour on Friday afternoons.

Indoor smash play! We are nice and warm in the hall today at Waitākiri School helping Dan from Christchurch Metro Cricket Association deliver cricket sessions to tamariki. Look out for tamariki with our stickers to see who we have met so far :)

We are super excited to share a competition just for Waitakiri students - every student who registers goes into the draw for one student to have their fees paid!

Smash Play consists of fun skills based games designed to ensure our most precious members (our wee ones new to cricket) develop good techniques and a love for cricket.

Our Friday afternoon sessions mean parents with older children can get to both kids cricket 🙌

Oscar, our Smash Play coach uses Smash Play games designed by New Zealand Cricket to ensure our tamariki learn batting, bowling, fielding and teamwork skills. Using balloons for catching practice on hot days are always a hit (or maybe throwing practice at the coach 😉).

Massive thanks to our friends Papanui Preschool and Nursery- Canterbury Educare Oakbridge Preschool and Canterbury Educare - Prestons Preschool for sponsoring free hoodies for the first 12 Smash Players registered and fees paid!

I might be a little windswept but had a fantastic day with our GDO Dan at Pareawa Banks Ave School today playing our all time favorite Smash Play games: meteor smash and junkyard smash!

Loved giving out our new stickers to all the tamariki (teachers have stickers for the tamariki who did their sessions on Monday)! Pareawa your HEART values were in fine form today x
