MIDWEEK CLIMBING Every Tuesday 6pm @ The Adventure Centre

The objectives of the Club are to encourage mountaineering, rock climbing and allied activities, and the enjoyment and conservation of mountain regions; and to bring together those interested in climbing. The Club aims to provide services for climbers, protect the interests and safety of climbers, and promote climbing activities.

This evening is all about raising money for Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust And we couldn't do it without you and all the awesome help from these businesses! Bivouac Outdoor Further Faster Boulder Co Christchurch .chch The Adventure Centre and Clip 'n Climb (Kind Foundation) and .chch

We will have raffle tickets for sale on the night with 7 awesome prizes to be won! Black Diamond Ice Axe from Bivouac, Firepot dehydrated meals from Further Faster, Set of day passes from Boulder Co, 10pass and merch from Uprising, Beanie, socks and Gecko guard from Earth, Sea, Sky, a 1 year subscription to NZAC, and 2 for 1 gym passes from The Adventure Centre! It was great to collaborate with Affinity Initiative Aotearoa for a weekend in the mountains.

Our newly elected section Chair, Natasha, teamed up with Freddie from Affinity Initiative Aotearoa (Affinity for short) to run the first Affinity alpine course in Aotearoa. They spent the weekend in Arthurs Pass teaching basic snowcraft skills including movement, survival, weather and trip planning.

Affinity is a community initiative working to increase diversity in outdoor spaces. They support people who identify as people of colour to get involved, build confidence and connections and develop a stronger sense of community.

It was a fantastic opportunity to bring people together, introduce participants to the alpine environment, build confidence and share the enjoyment of being in the mountains.

A big thank you to everyone involved in making the weekend happen. A special thank you to Jim, Freddie and Nat for instructing throughout the weekend, and to our NZAC Health and Safety Officer, Gregg, for helping make it happen in the background. We’re proud to support opportunities that help more people experience and enjoy the outdoors.
