🐶 TURNS OUT GAMES CAN BE WON IN AUGUST. 🔥

The Dogs kicked off 2026 with a 49–35 win over the Eastern Blues, getting the job done in the Round 1 Grand Final rematch and putting the first points on the board.

We’re told premierships aren’t won on social media, so thankfully we did our talking at QEII instead.

Bulldogs 49. Blues 35.

Plenty of season left. Plenty of posts left too.

🐶 THE WAIT’S OVER. THE DOGS ARE OFF THE LEASH. 🔥

Pre-season’s done, the talking’s finished and this Saturday the Christchurch Bulldogs are back where we belong.

First up: the Eastern Blues. They’ve had all winter to get ready for us. Hopefully they used it wisely.

We’re heading to QEII hungry, ready to hit hard and looking to start 2026 exactly the way we mean to carry on.

Get down, get loud and bring the bark.

🐶 MCBRIDE IS BACK.🔥

The Christchurch Bulldogs are stoked to announce Lachie McBride as Vice Captain for the 2026 season.

After spending last season across the ditch with Mitcham Football Club, Lachie returns to the Dogs with another year of footy under his belt - and a pretty serious résumé already behind him.

The Christchurch Bulldogs are proud to announce Henry Russell as Captain for the 2026 Canterbury Australian Football League Season.

After leading the Dogs from the sidelines as coach last year, Henry is back where he belongs - in the fight, leading from the front.

Henry brings the standards, toughness and belief this group is built on, and he’s ready to make a monumental impact as we attack 2026 head-on.

We couldn’t be more fired up to have Henry leading this pack into a season where expectations are high, the hunger is real, and the Bulldogs are coming for everything.

Surprise! 🐕🏆

The mighty Doggies are ready to leash up. Tim has nearly 2 decades of experience in afl footy across the leagues in Aus and somehow he found his way to the Canterbury Australian Football League. The (not so) gentle giant put his hand up late last year and the boys are fizzing.

The doggies are thrilled to welcome our new coach and cannot wait to get stuck in 🖋

GRAND FINAL - BULLDOGS 39 - BLUES 85
Unfortunately it wasn't to be.

Full credit to the Blues outfit who were simply too strong and capitalised on some disposal errors and inefficient kicking from us. They deserved the win.

We'd like to thank all the CAFL committee, the umpires, the volunteers, all players, all clubs and the people behind the clubs for their commitment to footy in Canterbury this season. 💪

Player of the Day: Stephan Van Grouting - gave everything in the big dance!
The Dogs are incredibly proud of this season and what we've built together. We'll be back without a doubt. 🐕

WE'RE OFF TO THE BIG DANCE! 🏆
BULLDOGS 41 - EAGLES 37

What a tight, closely fought contest! We stood strong against the fast-finishing Eagles outfit and got it done when it mattered! 💪

Some inaccurate kicking and a few key outs had this a little closer than we would've liked, but finals footy isn't meant to be easy!

Player of the Day: Jack Penniket - defensive efforts and leadership were immense! Put a stop to one of the most dangerous forwards in the competition in a tightly fought battle! 🔥

GRAND FINAL BOUND!
This will be the 3rd year in a row the Bulldogs and Blues face each other in the big one. The Dogs are determined to put a stop to the reign!
Time to finish what we started! 🐕
