Word of advice: it’s a journey. Take your time. We want sh*t to happen over night, when it doesn’t we think “well p**s it I cbf anymore”.
I want you to mentally reframe where the win is.
Is it measured in the number on the scale?
Is it measured in the weight you are lifting?
In how hard you cane your a** at the gym?

The win doesn’t lie in some make believe fantastical ideal image we have painted for ourselves.
The win lies in getting up early when you don’t feel like it, going to the gym when you don’t feel like it, choosing something healthy when you again- don’t feel like it.

So congratulations that “win” you’re striving for is there in the micro habits you engage in daily. It’s with you every step of the way in the journey. 🏆

How to stop dreading going to the gym!

Step 1. Find a gym you LOVE.
Finding a gym you love within a reasonable distance to you may sound like an obvious answer, but it’s sooooo important.
Instead of thinking about the gym and groaning in anticipation of how s**t it’s going to be, you can actually look forward to the idea of pampering yourself, taking care of your body and being surrounded by good people. On top of that it just feels good to invest into ourselves and if it costs a bit more $$ we are more likely to feel guilty if we don’t go (and therefore go more often).

If you feel like “oh well that’s all very nice but that’s a tad expenny Tia”…. are there other areas of your life you could take the cash from to put into a good gym membership? For me personally, I don’t drink or go out, so I use the money I would spend on that and put it into a membership instead! ✨

2 Find a gym buddy 👯‍♀️
That’s right another obvious one. But this will help you both stay accountable, It will help you push yourself and your buddy harder aaaaaand bonus it will help you stay connected to your friend!
Follow a program together and take turns doing the exercises. I’m sure a bit of healthy competition will even arise 😉

3 Don’t do sh*t you hate.
That’s right, I said it. If you hate it, whether that be an exercise, a particular class, a cardio machine or even a part of recovery then there’s a simple solution to get through it easily:
DONT. DO. IT.

You’ll just end up not going or associating feelings of dislike and exhaustion towards the gym. Eventually, once your new habit and love for the gym sets in (and it will) things you swore you would always hate will actually become enjoyable and sneak into your workout program.

Summary: the way you approach the gym is far more important than you think in your journey to a healthier (and happier) you.
Setting yourself up with a good gym, a program you like and a great community are all critical parts of your fitness journey!

If you need help with a 4 week custom made program, then please flick me a message and we can start a casual discussion around where you are at right now and where you want to be ☺️

My little theory on commitment over discipline.
Discipline is failure or success in an endeavour.
Discipline is kicking yourself hard when you fall short of perfection.
Discipline is telling yourself your a bag of d***s when you forget to take a photo on day 74 of 75 hard and have to start all over again (you know who you are).
Commitment is a journey that you embark on forever. It allows space and forgiveness to fall and get back up again. And we all fall at some point in our own journeys.
Commitment is self love and self care. Commitment is allowing yourself room to not be perfect. Commitment lets us try again without shame in who we are but allows us room for growth to recommit to our cause.

So allow yourself that space, allow yourself to fall short sometimes. We can’t “fail” if we continue to try.
We are all human beings we aren’t robot people (yet).
