Only 2 weeks left of term and show mode is on!
All classes have been busy with costume fittings and prop exploration!
We’ve discovered one costume size does not fit all this year so our needle and thread team are busy at work!
Costume accounts will be ready for invoicing soon. Please pay these by the due date.
Next term some classes and individuals in multiple items will be required for class earlier than normal. A message will be sent to the private groups.
This year’s show is going to be another cracker! If you love Wicked, Grease, Annie, Mary Poppins (just to name a few) you are going to love this year’s show! The teachers and dancers are working hard to bring you a performance not to be missed! Everyone is super excited and enjoying all the musical theatre involved and can’t wait to share it with you all!
Some highland classes are required for extra holiday recital lessons. These are free of charge. You have been sent an email if this is you!

As the highland competition calendar continues so do holiday lessons for our comp classes! An information email has been sent.
Please make sure you are utilising the opportunities given to stay ahead!
BATD examinations have been confirmed with Diane Krugh from USA. These are happening Wednesday 28th October at the dance school. More details have been emailed. 📧

NZAMD Jazz exam results are in and we are very excited! Certificates and report cards will be issued at the end of term. 🤗

We had hype and we had hustle!!
Last week was electric as everyone continued with new choreography in preparation for our end of year show - happening in just 11 dancing weeks!
Thank you to our choreography queen Holly for all your commitment and hard work!!
As we shift to the next phase on the calendar the dance school is alive with costumes and props preparing for our busiest event of the year. Things may look and sound chaotic but we are very much in control! 😅
Costume allocation has begun with accounts to follow next term. As always we do our best to kept show costs to a minimum.
Most classes will require their studio uniform as a base costume this year. Please ensure you have the correct shorts and top.
Thank you to those who have put their name forward to help with our show. We couldn’t do it without your support! 💗

In other news…..
Highland classes are working hard on non negotiables as a continuous comp season lingers! It is evident most of you have implemented your at home practice plan! Well done. ✔️
Assessments are now complete for Jazz and Pre-Grade.
Report cards will be ready at the end of term. ⭐️
NZAMD exam results will also be issued at the end of term. 🤗
We have quite a stash of school uniforms in the lost property. Please check before we close for the holidays.
A reminder NO food or sweet drinks inside the dance school as we combat the rodents and the ants! 🐜 🐭

It’s been a very busy week!!

Monday grade 1,2 and 3 Jazz sat registered examinations with NZAMD examiner Miss Chadwick-Cook from Auckland. She was very impressed with the high standard!
Well done teachers and dancers. Results to come! 🤩
In addition, one very clever dancer has been awarded a special examiners award - we don’t know who until the paperwork arrives! But we are very excited! Watch this space! 🤩

Internal Assessments went ahead mid week after having to postpone some classes due to sickness! 🤧
Well done to Junior Jazz and Junior Medal. Some very impressive performances and immense improvements!
Pre-Graders enjoyed their lessons performing recital dances for Holly who gave the nod of approval!

All classes were treated to new recital content with our choreography queen home working her magic. 🔮
Excitement was rife as formations were figured and acting roles filled! Costume and prop allocation has also began!!
Show season is well and truly upon us so make sure you attend every week to keep up with headway!

👯‍♀️Highland classes continue to progress with new steps and dances - and circuit training! Everyone is noticeably fitter and stronger! How is everyone’s practice schedule looking!? Remember, at home practice is a vital link in your highland progression!

🌟Middle school Star of the week was Jazz and Highland student Hannah Geddis. Hannah was awarded the clsss trophy for her excellent listening and theatrical skills during her Jazz class!
Junior stars for displaying dance school values were Maisie Parsons and Elena Ordonez. Well done.

Our celebration show is extremely anticipated and loved by the teachers, the students and their families - and of course, the wider community! This year is shaping up to be the best yet! Tickets can be purchased through Eventfinda, or the Theatre direct. Early bird tickets will go on sale for families early November. Be sure to secure yours!

Don’t forget…..there are no changes to the timetable. ALL classes are running as per normal!
Assessments for our Intermediate Jazz and Pregrade classes went smoothly last week. We did however postpone Junior Jazz due to sickness! Your assessment session will happen this week along with Junior and Senior Conditioning.

Darcie has been working hard in Highland, applying corrections, remaining focused in class and doing her at home practice! Keep up the good work Darcie!

August is exam time!
It’s time to show off what we have learnt this year so far!

NZAMD Registered Jazz exams are Monday 24th August. The timetable has been sent!
Internal Assessments for Intermediate and Junior Jazz - AND, all Pre-Grade classes are happening next week!! 😅
Details have been circulated. Please ensure you have correct uniform and hair!
A great selection of preloved and new uniform options are available! The dance school will be open from 2pm Tuesday for last minute purchases!
We will be taking the opportunity to capture class photos after Assessments - so uniformity would be greatly appreciated please!

📖Exams and Assessments are also coming for our Highland classes. More details are on the way!

💪Conditioning classes - your Assessments are scheduled for 26th/27th August. You have been sent an information email!

NZAMD Jazz exams are only 15 days away!!
ALL information has been circulated to candidates. Please get in touch ASAP if you have any questions.
We noticed last week some students are still copying during mocks! If you are uncertain of your exam work you can get extra help from the practice videos emailed out last term.

Pre-Grade classes are working towards in-house assessments. These will be held on normal dancing days, during normal class time.
More details coming next week.

Our highland classes continue to work hard on their fitness, technique and for some, new dances and steps! How is everyone going with their T3 at home practice plan!?!

Our conditioning classes continue to build strength and flexibility with the new circuit training and exercises proving extremely popular! These classes are producing a powerful, more poised and confident dancer by the week!🤩

Well done to stars of the week - Indie Foxall, Martha Tennent and Rose McLean (Rose was awarded the class cup in both Jazz and highland)! 💫

Week 3!
We have quickly settled and are back in the groove already!
Classes are buzzing with new content and everyone is enjoying the change of pace and new and exciting challenges! Graded Jazz are counting down to exams and our highland classes continue to show some very noticeable improvements. Consistency wins the race! 💪
Thank you to HDAOT for the photos this week of our highland choreography teams at the recent NZ Champs in New Plymouth. The girls had lots of fun letting their hair down after a very busy 2 days of competing!

Week 1 of 10!
It’s great to be back! 🙌 Everyone is well rested and ready for the busy term ahead! Last week all classes enjoyed some new content including circuit stations for our middle and senior students! Of course the non negotiables were still thrown in to keep our progression on track! 💪
It was fantastic to see lots of enthusiasm, energy and effort across the classes. 😌
Congratulations to stars of the week - Harper Voysey, Giana Mei, Isla McMillan, Lucy Akkersma and Darcie Campbell! Keep up the good work. 🌟

NZAMD Grade 1,2&3 Registered Jazz exams are confirmed! These are happening Monday 24th August (please note - ALL Tuesday and Wednesday classes will run as normal). Our examiner is Miss Chadwick-Cook from Auckland.
In-house assessments will be conducted for all other Jazz! This is going to be a big week! 🐝
