Hi all,
Just an update regarding the use of St Peter’s Equestrian:
St Peter’s Equestrian Facility – Strangles Biosecurity Notice
Due to the recent confirmed cases of strangles in the Waikato area, we ask all riders using the St Peter’s Equestrian facility to take extra care and follow good biosecurity practices to help keep our horses and community safe.
Please do not bring any horse onto the property that is showing any signs of illness, including (but not limited to):
Nasal discharge
Coughing
High temperature
Swollen glands
Lethargy or being generally unwell
Until further notice:
Only the bottom yards are to be used.
If using yards, please leave an empty yard space between horses where possible.
Do not allow horses to have direct nose-to-nose contact with horses outside their usual group.
Do not share water buckets, feed buckets, hay nets, gear, or equipment between horses.
Please clean up after yourself and leave facilities clean and tidy.
We ask everyone to use common sense and good hygiene practices. Strangles is highly contagious, but careful management and responsible horse owners make a huge difference in reducing risk.
All riders enter and use the facility at their own risk. While precautions are being taken, each owner/rider is responsible for the health and management decisions regarding their own horse.
Thank you for helping protect our wider equestrian community
Regards
Dna Wells
Head of Equestrian.
