What an incredible night for Nepal.

Last night, more than 250 people came together in Waikato for the Nepal Flood Relief Fundraising Dinner, and together we have raised approximately $35,000 so far.

And we are not finished yet - more donations are still coming in, so we will share the final confirmed amount once everything has been reconciled.

What happened last night was about much more than fundraising. It was a powerful demonstration of compassion, unity and community.

A very special thank you to the Waikato Indian Association, particularly Tarun Kumar Pragji and the entire WIA team, for the extraordinary amount of work, generosity and heart they put into making this event possible. From the venue and food to the setup, promotion, coordination and countless hours behind the scenes - this event simply would not have happened without them.

We are also deeply grateful to the Waikato Multicultural Council, all participating community organisations, businesses, sponsors, supporters, donors and volunteers who stood beside the Nepali community and contributed in so many different ways.

Last night showed us what is possible when communities come together.

Different cultures.
Different backgrounds.
One purpose.

To stand with Nepal.

We will provide a further update shortly, once we have received all remaining donations and confirmed the final fundraising total.

We Gorkhali Fc encourage every team member to and the community and peple around Waikato to join us to stand together for Nepal

When a country is hurting, distance should never stop us from standing together.
The devastating floods in Nepal have brought immense loss, heartbreak and uncertainty to countless families. Lives have been lost, homes have been destroyed, communities have been displaced, and many people are still waiting for news of their loved ones.

Although Nepal is thousands of kilometres away, the pain is deeply felt here in Waikato.

On Wednesday, 9 September, our communities will come together for a Nepal Flood Relief Fundraising Dinner- united by compassion and a shared commitment to support the people of Nepal during this incredibly difficult time.

We are especially grateful to the Waikato Indian Association, Waikato Multicultural Council Inc and the many other organisations, community leaders, businesses, supporters and volunteers who have come forward to stand alongside the Nepali community.

Your support represents more than financial assistance. It sends a powerful message that, in times of tragedy, our communities stand together.

Funds raised will be transferred directly to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund, Government of Nepal.

This evening is about remembrance, solidarity and hope.

We remember those we have lost.

We stand with the families who are suffering.

We pray for those still missing.

And together, we stand with Nepal.
