A solid day out in the Coromandel hills yesterday for the boys in the K1 & Nicholas Brown Challenge.

Lewis Bower was once again impressive in taking out the 43km NB Challenge by a whopping 5 minutes, improving on his 4th place in 2017.

The K1 86km, 1250m elevation was a real test on a hot afternoon & with a headwind for the first 40kms. Aidan Cook was best placed 18th overall and 9th in the 16-18 years category, just 2 minutes outside a top 10 finish. Sam Dawkins 27th overall (11th 16-18) and Shaun Woods 28th (12th 16-18) both had strong rides in a field of 281 starters.

Thoughts go out to Matthew Sugden for a speedy recovery after a nasty crash late in the race whilst handily placed and looking odds on for a top 10 finish.
