Our AGM is coming up this Wednesday, 19 August, 7pm at our clubrooms. This is open not only to our current financial members, but also to future athletic members and anyone interested in learning more about our club, how it is governed, and how you might get involved.

We’re looking for a Junior Athletics Coordinator to help bring our summer junior athletics programme to life!

This is a part-time contractor role (approx. 10 hours per week across the summer season) and a fantastic opportunity to be part of a fun, supportive, and community-focused club.

Hybrid working conditions - make up the hours when you can fit it into your week. No expectation to attend club nights or weekend events.

🌟Thanks to the generous support of Grassroots Trust, we’re delighted to announce we received funding to hire a Junior Athletics Coordinator for the 26/27 Athletic season🌟

Do you love sport and enjoy working with young people and families? We’re looking for a Junior Athletics Coordinator to help bring our summer junior athletics programme to life! This is a part-time contractor role (approx. 10 hours per week across the summer season) and a fantastic opportunity to be part of a fun, supportive, and community-focused club.

🏃‍♀️ What you’ll be doing:
- Managing registrations and memberships
- Coordinating uniforms and equipment
- Communicating with families and supporting club updates
- Helping run club nights, events, and competitions

🏃 We’re looking for someone who:
- Is organised and a great communicator
- Is confident using digital tools (Google Workspace, social media, etc.)
- Has a proactive, friendly, and collaborative approach
- Is passionate about sport and creating a positive environment where kids can thrive

This role is perfect for someone who loves community sport and wants to make a real difference for young athletes.

Tonight we celebrated the 25/26 Junior Athletic season with prize-giving. Many thanks to our parents, guardians and volunteers who enabled our club nights to take place over the season, we could not do it without you all.

Special shout out to Jonny for his years of dedication to the club 👏

We recognized many talented athletes tonight, with some of our special awards going to:
💫Mila (13G)
💫 Josh (12B)
💫Katie (11G)
💫 Charli (10G)
💫💫Arlo (8B) who received the penthlon cup, for most points by a club member at our Pentathlon - this is the first time (in a long time/possibly on record) that an athelete under 10 years old has received this award. Arlo also broke many club records over the season.

💫 Elise received the volunteer cup for her incredible contribution - in particular for the tiny tot programme. We would love to be able to clone Elise!

🌟 Club record
Last night Arlo broke the club night Long Jump record for 8 boys, jumping 3.92m (old record 3.83).
Arlo also matched his 60m new club night record of 9.27secs that he set a few weeks ago.

Congrats to our junior athletic secondary school students today who qualified to represent their school at the Waikato Bay of Plenty Athletic champs. They first had to qualify to represent their school, then qualify to represent their zone (Waikato is split into 3 zones), before reaching today.

Some superb results:

❤️ Mila - 1st in Junior girls 1500m & 2nd in 3000

🧡 Josh - 2nd in Junior boys 1500m, setting a PB time + breaking the Cambridge 12yr old boy record with 4.51.38

💛 Eliana - 4th in Junior girls 100m, 5th in 200m (both PB times)

💚 Ellie - 4th in Junior girls 300m, 14th in 200m (both PB times)

💙 Khloe - 6th in Intermediate girls 300m hurdles, 7th in 80m hurdles & 14th in 400m (all PB times)

🩷 Eva - 8th in Junior girls 800m, 9th in 1500m (both PB times) & 13th in high jump

💜 Anaam - 11th in Junior boys 300m

Also congrats to a Senior Athlete Erin for placing 2nd in both Senior girls 100m hurdles & 300m hurdles

2026 WaiBOP Children’s Championships were held over the weekend. Huge congrats to all our amazing Cambridge athletes, who represented the club well + their ever important support crew to make it all possible.
