📣 Tasman Districts Hockey U18 WOMEN’S TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT – 2026 HNZ NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

Nelson Hockey Association is pleased to announce the Tasman Districts U18 Women’s Team selected to represent our region at the 2026 HNZ U18 Women’s National Tournament, held in Palmerston North from July 5–11.

A selection panel consisting of Chris Leslie, Rebecca Kersten, Denise Lloyd, Grant McMillan and Sandy Large has confirmed the following 17 athletes:

Nelson-based players will train every Thursday, 5:00–6:00pm at NHA, beginning this Thursday, May 14.

Attendance and commitment to all trainings and the overnight camp are essential as the team prepares for the National Tournament.

We have been working with Tasman Districts Hockey for a number of years - it's exciting to now be entering into a formal 3 year partnership, which will include moving Tasman teams into Osaka World and extending significant equipment discounts to Tasman players. Tasman Districts Hockey holds a place dear to us, with our Director and Co-Founder having run Hockey Marlborough before starting Go Hockey in 2013. We are looking forward to seeing the NHC teams in Osaka in September.

Huge congratulations to Denise Lloyd on being part of the Junior Alpiners management team that brought home the bronze medal at the recent Junior Hockey League (JHL) tournament in Auckland! 👏

Nelson Hockey Association wishes to advise that the final U18 Tasman District Women’s Trial will take place this week:

📅 Thursday 23 April 2026
⏰ 5:00pm – 6:00pm
📍 Nelson Hockey Association Turf, Saxton Field

This is the official final trial before the TD U18 Women’s squad is named.

Selectors are looking for the top tier of U18 players from across the region, so all eligible athletes who wish to be considered are strongly encouraged to attend.

Marlborough and West Coast will also be holding their provincial trials during the same week as part of the overall selection process.

Please help us spread the word within your clubs and player networks.

We look forward to seeing our U18 athletes out on the turf.

Wednesday 22 April 2026
5:00pm – 6:30pm
Puna Wai Hockey Turf
This is the official trial before the TD U18 Women’s squad is named.
Selectors are looking for the top tier of U18 players from across the region, so all eligible athletes who wish to be considered are strongly encouraged to attend. Must be over the age of 15 and Under 18 on 1 January of this year.
Hockey Nelson and West Coast Hockey Association will also be holding their provincial trials during the same week as part of the overall selection process.

Congratulations to our National Masters W35+ and W45+ who finished top of their table after pool play and now heading into Semi Finals today.
W35+ Semi Final at 3:45pm vs Wellington
W45+ Semi Final at 3.40pm vs Canterbury

Our M40+ had a good win yesterday against BOP and are currently playing Northland in Crossover.

Our W50+ having a narrow loss yesterday, sees them playing Tauranga at 8pm tonight, for 7th/8th.
