What happens when you hand a Sydney Morning Herald travel journalist the keys to Marlborough for a couple of days?

A private wildlife sanctuary walk, vineyard bike trails, underground wine cellars, local art, exceptional food and wine, and plenty of stories from the people who make this region special.

Earlier this year, Explore Marlborough hosted travel journalist Jane Richards and her partner in collaboration with The Marlborough. Their touring was led by our guides Innes and Richard Ellis — winemaker and owner of The Marlborist — who shared some of the experiences, hidden gems and local stories that make Marlborough so much more than a wine region.

The result? A fantastic feature showcasing our corner of the world to readers across Australia.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mamas, Grandmothers, and mother figures out there! 🤍

We have 3 generations of mums woven through our family business — Kat, her mum Cherie, and now me (Tayla) raising the youngest generation.
