The South Island Cyclocross Championships are coming to Nelson at Saxton Field on the 11th to 12th of July🏁

Students from year 7-13 can enter through their school sports coordinator on any safe bicycle without a motor🚲

We haven’t forgotten the more “seasoned” riders either, with an open South Island championship race on the same course following the conclusion of the schools racing👨‍🦳

Come join the cyclocross action for your shot at a South Island title🥇

Always worth a trip over the hill to check out the CX Marlborough series, starting this Sunday!

Righto boys and girls, now I’ve done my big race, it’s time to get into the CX season. 😁🚴🏼‍♀️🚴🚴🏼‍♂️

Our first round is on June 7th at 277 Ben Morven Road.

Proper cyclocross weather for our 2026 opening round at Saxton Field🌧️

Cross is coming!

Round one for 2026 kicks off at Harakeke Green at Saxton Field next Sunday 31st of May.

There’ll be kids on runner bikes, XC race rigs, old hardtails, and people racing whatever drop bar contraption they have against cyclocross bikes all having a great time.

This will be a very similar course to the South Island Schools Champs coming up on July 12th, which also be followed by an open race for those whose school days are behind them.

The season is rapidly approaching and it’s about time we shared what we have in the works for 2026!

We have 4 of our usual rounds plus the South Island Schools Championship. This will be followed by an open race on the same course for those whose schools days are behind them.

Heads up for a couple of great kids events coming up in Nelson:

The Schools Criterium is great fun for kids with runner bikes or trainer wheels all the way up to teenagers on road bikes. Spot prizes and series prizes. Great vibes and very accessible fun.

Jellybean Alley from is a great way for a family to enjoy an introduction to mountain bike racing together. Free entry low-key racing on beginner trails with jellybeans each lap.
