And just like that the A&P circuit kicks off for us, a break in breed shows until Showcases gives us the opportunity to Support our Local grassroots Ag shows, and today saw Aaron, the kids, Clementine, Deano and myself heading out to West Otago A&P Show.
The mini ring was well supported, graciously hosted by judge Rob Hall and 2 of the most lovely stewards, that work hard at the show every year.
Both kids dressed for success in their favourite outfits and looked set for a day at the races, they weren't in the ribbons but looked absolutely gorgeous! More importantly they both got stuck in and helped get horses ready! (In the quest for transparency their cooperation did not last the whole day, and sibling scrapping commenced by 10am 🤣).
Deano showed like a little freak. Man this is one FUN gelding. He gets tired and turns into a velociraptor, but for his conformation class he was a STAR.
With the kids feeling their early morning and losing vigour Aaron took over our little Silver darling. Sweet Sweet Clementine, at 14 years old, a few foals under her belt and a distinct love of cookies, picnic platters and donuts, this little lady has curves to share.... but paired up with one of favourite grown ups, she looked over at me and Deano, and I swear I heard her whisper to Aaron "come on fella, let's do this - BIG SHOW"... and big show she did....
And it just goes to show, dream big, work hard.... it might take you 14 years, but Roses, look good on everyone.
Well done babe, and My Sweet Clementine... you both deserved your win today. I'm so proud.
