U14 Boys Game Update

Teal boys take on a tough one! 🤽‍♂️💚

A tough game against Sea Wolf White saw our Teal boys go down 2:15. The third quarter was a real challenge, but after a great pep talk from Coach Hamish, they came back strong and finished with their heads up. 💪

Proud of the effort and the way this team bounced back. Onwards and upwards, Teal!

Gold boys go toe to toe with North Harbour Maroon! 🤽‍♂️💛

Gold faced tough opposition in North Harbour Maroon. It took a little while to settle, but once they did, the boys never stopped working. Lots of great attack and defence, and their communication got better and better as the game went on. 💪

Even the refs commented that it was a very competitive game and much closer than the score showed. 👏

Plenty of learning to take from this one, and we’ll put it to use when we meet them again next week at the Sea Wolf tournament. Bring it on!

Great job, boys!

U14 Girls Game Update

Day 1 done for our Girls Teal Team! 🤽‍♀️💙

What a day for our girls! A shy, uncertain start against Sea Wolf White saw us go down 7:2, but by the afternoon they’d found their rhythm as a team and took the win over Atlantis White, 7:5.

They showed incredible grit, controlling the second game right to the end with no subs and nothing left in the tank. 💪

Coach Maddy said: “They played really well against a strong Sea Wolf White and showed great communication and held themselves well. Against Atlantis White in the afternoon they were awesome as a team, pushed really hard and never gave up. Attitude ++”

Well done, girls! So proud of every one of you. 👏

*****
A great start to the AWP U14s league for our Gold girls! 🤽‍♀️💛

Gold kicked off with an 8:2 win over Sea Wolf Grey, then went down 2:5 to a strong North Harbour Maroon. Every one of our girls put in a solid effort. 💪

An extra shout out to our three first-year U14s, who were playing Div 1 for the first time and rose to the occasion:

⭐ #3 Elise Wyatt
⭐ #12 Mena Smit
⭐ #13 Eva-Mae Tana

Well done, Gold! 👏

We are super proud of the u16 boys development over the season and finishing nationals with a convincing 12-5 win over Otago to take away 11th place.

Last night's semi against Sea Wolf was a nail biting game ending in a penalty shoot out and they fought to the end never showing any sign of giving up. In the end Sea wolf took it out 3-2 in penalties.

The improvement the team made over the season was great watch. They had excellent team cohesion with lots of fun, water fights, man hunts, basketball in the rain and singing in the van.

Watch this space as all but one of the team are still U16 next year!

Thanks to Angela for incredible organisation and being the coach's voice in games when Kate lost hers! Vatra for being an amazing parent help (and pre-prepping delicious dinners) and to the other parents who supported, livestreamed the games, took photos and rallied around when needed. It made the season and trip so smooth and efficient.
