Tonight, Aotearoa Wāhine Walking Football, alongside Pasifika Sisters in Sport, hosted a Leadership Connections Dinner following an inspiring weekend of the Mana Moana Football Collective.
The evening brought together wāhine from across football, community, and leadership spaces, including Football Fern Malia Steinmetz and her māmā Paula, representatives from Oceania Football, club leaders, administrators, coaches, and advocates from across South Auckland and beyond.
While many of us were meeting for the very first time, it didn't take long for the talanoa to flow. Stories were shared, connections were made, and opportunities to work together for the betterment of our game quickly emerged.
The Mana Moana Football Collective was founded on the belief that Pasifika girls should feel seen, heard, connected to culture, and confident in who they are. Tonight was a reminder that creating those experiences for our young people begins with us. When wāhine come together, share knowledge, strengthen relationships, and build networks, we create stronger pathways for the next generation to thrive.
We are incredibly grateful for the women who continue to show up, lead with purpose, and invest in creating spaces where our Pasifika girls can see what is possible.
Because when we work collectively, our girls don't just participate in football, they belong in it. 💙🌺
