Your old clothes are helping Aotea play sport! πŸ‘•βž‘οΈβš½

Thanks to St Johns Community Church Oppshop, Medlands St Johns Op Shop , the Club has received $5,000 towards a new Sports Co-ordinator role.

Run entirely by volunteers, the Oppshop in Medlands has given more than $130,000 back to the island over the last 11 years, all from the clean clothes and goods you donate. So thank you to the Oppshop team, and to everyone who shops and donates there!

We're looking for someone to get Aotea playing more sports. Think weekly sports sessions, Tennis, Netball, Softball, Saturday sport at the Club, pickleball, holiday programmes, etc.

Farewell and thank you, Gordon and John! πŸ’™

At this year's AGM, we said goodbye to two Claris Club LEGENDS from the Committee.

Gordon Bishop has stepped down as President after at least 26 years in the role. That's an incredible stretch of leadership, and the Club wouldn't be what it is today without him.

John Tate has also stepped down after many years as a dedicated Committee member.

On behalf of the new Committee, thank you both so much for your time, your dedication and your many, many years of service to the Club. We have big shoes to fill, and we're grateful for everything you've built for us to carry on. πŸ™

Don't worry, they're not going far!
You'll still find them behind the bar. Come in and congratulate Gordon behind the bar tonight, and John on Saturday. 🍻

Another BIG thanks to the Aotea / Great Barrier Local Board πŸ’š

Fresh paint on the clubrooms, a smoother ride up the driveway, plus help with our rates and admin costs – the stuff that keeps the club ticking.

We're so grateful for the support that keeps this space open for our whole community πŸ™

AND a big shout out to Aotea Painters and Aotea Contractors for their work – the clubrooms and driveway are looking awesome. Thank you! πŸ‘

No line dancing this Saturday.

We're taking a few weeks break as we've got key people away, Wharf 2 Wharf and School Holidays.

We'll be back soon enough with new songs, new dances and hopefully some new faces too :)

Well. That was a great night.

Grease on the big screen at the Claris Club - a packed carpark, an epic movie, and right at the end, the crowd got up dancing. SO good!

Thank you to everyone who came to fundraise for our driveway seal project. The driveway is one step closer to being greased lightning. ⚑

And a massive thank you to Coromandel Live for supplying the gear and making the whole thing possible. Could not have done it without you. πŸ™Œ

PS. We're open tonight. Sandy ran off with Danny, and it seems our b**r glasses and jugs ran off with some of you guys too. If they've turned up at your place or are still in your car, please bring them back - or we'll be spending the driveway money on new schooners 🍺
