Kapa O Aotearoa Kārearea was gifted to the New Zealand Falcons in 2014.

It was composed especially for the New Zealand Falcons by Derek Lardelli and Mikki-Tae Tapara (Tainui Waikato) based on the All Blacks haka Kapa O Ponga. The mana and wairua of this haka is a taonga that the New Zealand Falcons continue to uphold and treasure.

It was an honour to be guided by our kaitiaki Luke Orbell to prepare for this haka, who was joined by fellow kaitiaki Tia Craig Walters when performing and leading our rōpu so beautifully. Both tāne have made incredible contributions to the New Zealand Falcons by being the kaitiaki for Te Ao Māori within our whānau and we could not be more grateful 💚🖤🦅

It is a privilege for all kārearea to get the chance to hold and experience this haka and we know it will stay with every one of us for life.

Did you know the New Zealand Falcons also have a touch rugby team?? That’s right, it’s not all about rugby union!!

Whether you’ve never picked up a ball or are a seasoned pro, we’d like to welcome you down to Western Springs Outerfields tomorrow evening from 6.30pm 🏉☀️

It’s a great way to meet new people, learn a new skill and get moving, all in an inclusive and supportive space 🌈🦅 And if you’re interested in playing Union next year, it’s a great in-route and opportunity to get that fitness up!

The New Zealand Falcons had the honour of being gifted this powerful kōwhaiwhai by Māori artist and friend to the Falcons, Rory O’Neill (Te Āti Awa Taranaki).

This kōwhaiwhai was created specifically for the team to wear on our jerseys for Bingham Cup 2026 and we could not be more proud to represent Aotearoa in this way.

As the IGR Bingham & Amanda Mark Cup came to a close, the New Zealand Falcons took a couple of days to reflect on the past week of inclusive rugby.

One thing that stood out to us, is the importance of championing your team, win, draw or lose. There is mana in showing up for team no matter what.

We’ll have more to share and say but for now, thanks for tuning in 🦅💚🖤
