NZSUP We’re here for New Zealanders who love to stand up and paddle. We promote the sport, represent paddlers, and run the National Champs each year.

Thankyou to Pub Charity for their generous support of the NZSUP paddler development weekend. Supporting paddlers to grow their skills and knowledge in Standup Paddling via coaching, learning how to assess the environment to keep themselves safe on the water and use of the right safety gear, all while paddling on the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula.

READY TO TAKE YOUR SUP SKILLS TO THE NEXT LEVEL?

If you fancy a weekend of improving your skills, giving SUP surfing a try and meeting other awesome paddlers, this weekend is for you!

The NZSUP 2026 Hahei Development Camp is happening 2–4 October in the beauitful Hahei in the Coromandel, with a mix of practical on-water coaching, off-water learning and plenty of time to enjoy all things SUP!

The focus of sessions are on:
Learning to SUP surf
Building confidence paddling on the sea
SUP safety skillls - towing and rescues
Improving your paddleboarding technique

The sessions are adaptive, so coaches can work with your individual ability and the conditions on the day.

And the best bit? As well as meet some awesome paddlers to connect with, you’ll get to explore some pretty special local spots too.

Who’s it for?
This is for you if you are an 'Intermediate' paddler, who can comfortably paddle 1km on flat looking to up their paddling game. Bring your own board.

Cost:
💰 NZSUP members: $100 adult / $70 student
💰 Non-members: $150 adult / $90 student

Accommodation and food aren't included, so you’ll need to organise your own accommodation for the weekend. Tasman Holiday Park Hahei will be the camp base.

If you’ve been wanting to make the jump from flat-water paddling to get more confident in open-water or the surf, this could be a brilliant weekend to do it.

Meet the NZSUP Committee 👋
Ever wondered who’s behind NZSUP?

We’re a volunteer committee made up of paddlers from around Aotearoa, with different backgrounds, experiences and ways of enjoying SUP.

From racing and SUP surfing to coaching, safety, events, clubs, exploring and simply getting out on the water, we’re a pretty varied bunch. 🏄‍♀️

Meet Jacqui, Bindy, Aaron, Mickie, Jo and Rod 👋

We’re here because we love SUP and want to help make the sport safer, more accessible, more connected and more welcoming for paddlers across New Zealand.

But NZSUP isn’t really about the committee. It’s about you.

So we want to know:
💬 What do you want more of from NZSUP?🌊 What would help you feel more confident on the water?🤙 What could we do to better connect paddlers across Aotearoa?

Tell us in the comments. We’re listening.

SUP Antarctica Expedition looking for team members

Matt and team looking for confident paddleboarders with remote camping experience

"February 2028 myself and a small team will be heading to Antarctica for the first SUP Antarctica expedition.

This SUP Antarctica expedition plans to be the first SUP based expedition to the continent. A small team will be setting out from Ushuaia, Argentina. After crossing the Drake passage on a transport ship we will rendezvous with the expedition yacht Icebird. This ship and our tents will be home for the next 15 days as we explore along the world’s most isolated coastline

The Research.

This is not just an adventure; this is a research trip. We have teamed up with the Polar Collective, a research group dedicated to expanding our limited knowledge of this fragile ecosystem. The SUP’s will allow us to cruise through icy passages and weave between islands with just the sound of the blade in the water and the gentle lapping of the waves. Providing a unique perspective to gather data for 3 important projects. "
