On ANZAC Day, we remember all our members who have served.

Below is an extract from the diary of one of our Blackcaps, Verdun Scott, who served in WWII (photo).

‘April 25, Saturday, 1942
Up at 6.20 am and shaved, washed and had breakfast. I had a lot to do to get ready for the Anzac Day Parade. Left camp at 7.30 am and lined up at Base Training at 8 am. We marched to the Savoy Hut Parade ground, sang a couple of hymns and then marched past “Tiny” Freyberg and the nurses. Very impressive. Played in the afternoon against Gezira for Capt. Blundell’s team and we just won 167 to 177-9. I only made 8. L.B.W. It was a crook decision...’ Lest we forget

After 4 incredible years, we say farewell (for now) to Krissie 💙🏏

Krissie first arrived at North Shore Cricket Club as an overseas player, and it didn’t take long before he became so much more. Stepping into the Cricket Development/Club Manager role, taking over from Tendai, he has been a driving force behind the growth and success of our club, both on and off the field.

His passion for NSCC has been nothing short of outstanding. From playing, coaching, and managing, Krissie has been at the heart of some truly special moments — including winning the Hedley Howarth, securing promotion back this season after a record-breaking Tom Hellaby campaign, and helping drive standards across the club.

One of his most significant legacies will be in the women’s space. Krissie played a pivotal role in building our women & girls pathway and establishing our Premier Women’s team — a huge step forward for our club and something that will benefit generations to come.

Off the field, his impact has been just as strong. This season he introduced our inaugural golf day fundraiser, which was a fantastic success and a great addition to our club calendar.

More than anything, it’s the energy, care, and connection he brought to our people that will be remembered most. He has helped make NSCC feel like home for so many — just as it became home for him.

Krissie will be finishing up with us in May before returning to the UK, and while he will be hugely missed, we know this isn’t goodbye forever.

Thank you for everything, Krissie — we can’t wait to welcome you back again soon.

One of the most meaningful accolades of the night, the Spirit of Cricket Award, is determined by umpires scoring across the season and recognises respect for the game, officials, and opposition. We are incredibly proud that our Premier Women’s side claimed this honour.

The evening was capped off with North Shore Cricket Club being named Club of the Year. As a club that has been part of the Devonport community since 1864, we take immense pride in upholding the values of both Auckland and New Zealand Cricket. We are committed to creating an environment where people feel connected, included, and part of something special, while continuing to champion initiatives like Balance is Better.

This recognition is a reflection of the collective effort across our entire club and caps off what has been a truly exceptional season. Thank you to all our volunteers, members, coaches and staff that made this possible.
