Winter motivation disappearing? ❄️🙈

Try my 5 minute rule 👇

The hardest part is usually just getting started.

Get dressed. Show up. Move for 5 minutes.

That tiny action is often all you need to build momentum 💪

Because consistency isn't built on perfect days… it's built on the little moments you choose to show up ✨

Give it a go next time your brain says “skip it” 😉

The only rule you need this winter 💪

I'm going to share the one thing that works for me every single time the motivation isn't there.

And it's embarrassingly simple.

Just do 5 minutes.

That's it. That's the whole rule.

When the alarm goes off and it's dark and cold and every cell in your body is saying no - you don't have to commit to the full session. You don't have to find motivation from somewhere. You just have to do 5 minutes.

Get dressed. Show up. Start.

And here's what happens almost every single time - and I mean almost EVERY time - once those 5 minutes are done, something shifts.

Your body warms up. Your brain goes "oh wait, I know what we're doing here." And suddenly you hear it saying - let's do another 5. Let's keep going. Let's do the full thing.

That voice that was telling you to stay in bed ten minutes ago? She's gone. Because she only had power before you started.

The hardest part is never the workout. The hardest part is getting dressed and walking through the door.

And this works whether you're doing a morning workout OR an evening one 🌙

Because for my evening ladies - you know that moment when you walk through the door after work and that voice immediately starts giving you reasons why not? Too tired. Too cold. You've already done so much today. Tomorrow will be better.

Same rule applies.

Don't negotiate with her. Just get dressed. Show up. Start. 5 minutes - you can totally do it.

Once you're in it, you're in it. And you'll be so glad you showed up for yourself tonight instead of letting that voice win again.

So this week - when that voice shows up - just tell her... "okay, just 5 minutes. That's all I'm committing to."

And then go see what happens 😉 I've got my strength session this morning. Cold start, warm finish. Always worth it 💚

What's your movement looking like today?

There's something about our Satirday morning sessions that I genuinely love more than almost any other.

The women who show up on a Saturday morning? They've chosen themselves. Over the sleep in. Over the slow morning. Over the "I'll start next week."

They showed up. And that matters so much more than they probably realise.

Week one of June....
Protein ✅ Journalling ✅ Strength ✅ Running ✅ Pilates ✅ Steps ✅

Not because I'm perfect. Because I have a goal that matters to me. And because showing up for it - even on the cold mornings or wet days - is how I show up for myself.

That's all it ever is. Showing up for yourself. One day, one session, one choice at a time.

How are you moving today?

End of week and I want to share something 💚

It's Friday. Week one of June done.

And I want to share something with you - because this is honestly why I do what I do.

→ A woman who walked into her first session feeling unfit and nervous, and walked out already excited about our next session together.

→ A message I got mid-week from another member who said "I tried the protein at breakfast thing (vs just coffee 😅), and I made it to 12pm without wanting another coffee or sneaking to the cafe mext door for a piece of cake."

→ A member who told me this week that she didn't recognise herself — in the best way. That she stood taller. That she felt capable. That she feels so strong and didn’t ever think she would be this excited about fitness.

These are the moments. Not the before and after photos. Not the kilos lost. The moment a woman realises she is stronger than she thought. More capable than she'd been told. More worthy of her own time and care than she'd allowed herself to believe.

That is what we're building here in our studio together. Week by week. Session by session. One small habit at a time.

What's your win this week?
Even the tiniest one. I want to hear it 👇

Energy levels today? Low. 😅

It's been a big week. A properly full-on, lot-going-on, running-at-full-capacity kind of week. And my body is telling me loud and clear that it needs something different today.

So I'm listening.

No intense training today. Instead I'm focusing on the things I actually have control of right now:

🥚 Really good nutritious food - protein first, all day
🧠 My mindset - staying steady, not spiralling
💧 Hydration - simple but it matters so much
🌿 Rest - letting my body actually recover

Because here's what I've learned after years of training and coaching women - pushing hard on an already exhausted body and brain isn't strength. It's not discipline either.

Knowing when to back off? Listening to what your body is actually asking for? That's the real skill. And honestly it took me a long time to learn it.

Now - don't feel too sorry for me 😂 Because tomorrow I have a training session planned and I am absolutely showing up for it 💪

But today? Today is about taking care of myself in the ways that matter. Good food. Good mindset. No guilt. And an early night tonight 💤

This is what fitness for real life actually looks like - not every day is a training day. And that's not failure. That's just being human 💚

Can you relate to this kind of week? Tell me below 👇

Can we talk about protein? Because the confusion is real and I want to help. 🥚
I've had so many conversations in the last couple of weeks - in the studio, in my groups, in my DMs - about protein. When to eat it. How much. What counts. Whether it actually matters.

And honestly? The amount of confusing, conflicting information out there - I absolutely get the confusion and overwhelm.

So let me just be really straight with you about this.

Yes, protein matters. A lot. Especially for us as busy women.

Here's the simple version - no complicated science, just what you actually need to know:

🥚 Protein keeps you full. If you're hungry an hour after breakfast, you probably didn't eat enough protein.

💪 It supports your muscles - whether you're strength training, running, doing Pilates, or just chasing around after the kids. Your body needs it to repair and rebuild.

🔥 It keeps your energy stable. No 3pm crash. No desperate reach for the biscuit tin or that emergency chocolate bar in your desk 🍫

🌿 And it supports your hormones - really important for women in perimenopause and beyond.

So what does this actually look like in real life? Because "eat more protein" is advice that means nothing without practical examples.

Here's what I'm doing right now that's working:
👉 Within the first hour of waking - eggs, Greek yoghurt, or a protein smoothie
👉 Easy work lunch - tinned salmon or tuna, a boiled egg, some cottage cheese on crackers
👉 Snacks that actually fill me - boiled eggs, cheese, hummus, Greek yoghurt, a small handful of nuts
👉 Dinner - always built around a protein first (lamb, chicken, fish, mince) - Aim for a palm-size servings withyour main meals.

You don't need to count grams. You don't need to be perfect. You just need to make protein the centre of each meal instead of an afterthought.

Start there. See how you feel. Notice your energy levels through your day.

And if you have questions - genuinely, ask me. That's what I'm here for 💚

The thing about small habits… 🌿

They compound. Ten minutes of movement or journalling becomes a calmer morning. A calmer morning becomes a better day. A better day makes it easier to choose the movement. The movement builds the energy. The energy changes everything.

This is exactly the approach we take inside BeneFit You. Nothing extreme. Nothing that requires you to overhaul your whole life. Just small, intentional, consistent choices - with support around you so you actually stick to them.

We have 6 spots open in our small group sessions right now. If this month feels like the moment - I'd genuinely love to be part of it.

Our 28-Day Confident Kickstart is $200 NZD - this gives you up to 4 sessions a week, a personal consult with me, and full access to Move Nourish Thrive online. That's your whole foundation, sorted.

Or if in-person doesn't work for your life right now - Move Nourish Thrive online is $14 week and you can start tonight. No waiting for Monday. No waiting for the perfect time.

And if you want something truly personalised - I have just one spot left for private 1:1.

Send me a message, and let's have a chat about what option might work best for you.

I started waking up 10 minutes earlier. Here's what happened. 🌿

Okay, hear me out on this one.

Because I know what you're thinking. Ten minutes? That's nothing, Mel.

But honestly? It's changed my whole morning.

Here's the thing - I'm a mum of a five year old, and a 22 month old who is still breastfeeding and waking up multiple times at night. My mornings used to go from zero to chaos in about 30 seconds flat. Eyes open, kids right there, brain immediately in logistics-mum-mode. By the time I'd got everyone sorted and out the door I hadn't had a single moment to just... BE.

So this month, I'm waking up ten minutes before everyone else. Just ten.

And in those ten minutes, I journal. Nothing fancy. No prompts. No gratitude lists if I don't feel like it. Just whatever is in my head - thoughts, worries, things I'm looking forward to, what I want to feel today.

It sounds so small. And it is. But those ten minutes are mine. Before the day takes over. Before I'm in service to everyone else.

And what I've noticed - in just the first few days - is that I move through the rest of my morning differently. Calmer. More intentional. Less reactive.

That's the power of a small, consistent habit. Not a dramatic morning routine with cold plunges and green juice 😂 - just ten quiet minutes before the world wakes up.

If your mornings feel like chaos from the second your alarm goes off - I want you to try this. Just ten minutes. Just for this week. And notice the small shifts.

What's one thing you could do with ten quiet minutes in the morning? Tell me below 👇

It's the 1st of June — new month, fresh energy, and a public holiday 🎉

And I just want to quickly remind you that all sessions are on as normal today 💪

And I want to share why that actually matters - not just as a reminder, but because I think there's something really powerful in it.

The women who make the most lasting progress? They're not the ones who train hardest.

They're the ones who show up on the days it would be easy not to.

The public holiday. The rainy morning. The week they're tired. The day they nearly talked themselves out of it.

Those are the sessions that build something. Not just fitness — character. Self-trust. The quiet knowledge that when you say you're going to do something, you actually do it.

I'm doing my strength session this morning. Public holiday and all. Not because I'm some kind of machine — but because I know how I'll feel afterward. Stronger. Clearer. More myself.

If you've been thinking about joining us - a public holiday morning is honestly one of my favourite times to come in. It's quieter. There's no rush. And there's something really special about choosing yourself when the rest of the world is having a sleep in.

Sessions today:
📍 Monday 12:30pm - Fit & Fabulous
📍 Monday 6:15pm — Boxfit
📍 Monday 7:00pm — Boxfit

Come on. Love to see you at a session.

Book via website/app, or PM Mel and I can help you out 😀
