Jyoshinmon New Zealand Official page for Jyoshinmon Shorin-Ryu Karate-Do New Zealand and its Members

Jyoshinmon Shorin-Ryu is a family-run Karate club and has been active in New Zealand since 1971. We now have 5 Dojos in Auckland - New Lynn, Manurewa, Onehunga, Mangere Bridge and Ranui. We continue to have close links with Jyoshinmon in Japan and regularly ensure that we are as close in our teaching to that of Japan, by travelling there or inviting one of the Jyoshinmon masters out to New Zealand. Internationally, Jyoshinmon Shorin-Ryu is taught in over 20 countries with thousands of students. The Honbu (Headquarters) is based in Tokyo - visit https://joshinmon.org/

Our club has produced winning competitors in national tournaments and international championships where they have represented New Zealand. For more information, please visit the Jyoshinmon New Zealand website:

Shihan David Bennett, Sensei Jason Ng, and Sensei Bruce Laufoli touched down in Tokyo this morning, marking the start of their 12‑day stay in Japan.

From there, they will travel to Kagoshima to attend the 10th Anniversary Memorial Service of Ryuso Hoshu Ikeda, the Founder of Jyoshinmon Shorin‑Ryu Karate‑do.

Ryuso Ikeda established Jyoshinmon in 1969, drawing deeply from the teachings of Kyan Chotoku. His legacy continues to shape our training, our values, and our community.

For those who want to learn more about his remarkable journey in martial arts, visit the Jyoshinmon New Zealand site:
