RIP you record demolishing Frenchman.
We're sad to hear that Charlie Dalin, the extraordinary winner of the 2024/25 Vendée Globe single-handed around-the-world race, has died aged 42.
His family announced today that the legendary French yachtsman has passed away, after revealing last year that he was being treated for a rare cancer.
“It is with deep sadness that my family and I announce the passing of my husband, Charlie Dalin, following a long illness,” Dalin’s wife Perrine Le Pape told French news service AFP.
Dalin won the Vendée Globe after being diagnosed with a rare cancer. It was a groundbreaking victory which demolished the course record and marked the pinnacle of his great career.
Our sincere condolences go to his wife, young son, family, friends, teammates, and all who knew a truly remarkable man.
Sail on, Charlie.
