Monday Mudra πββοΈ
Jyeshtha Sharira mudra - Gesture of the upper body for upper body breathing.
(Incidentally, this mudra follows on beautifully from last week and the previous weeks mudras!)
Jyeshtha means "eldest" or "highest," and sharira means "body." Jyeshtha
Sharira mudra directs breath, awareness and energy into the uppermost
portions of the chest, collarbones, neck and throat.
This gesture powerfully
lengthens the inhalation, increasing heart rate and blood pressure, thereby enhancing energy and vitality.
This mudra increases circulation to the area of the thyroid gland, located at the throat, stimulating metabolism.
Jyeshtha Sharira mudra creates space between the shoulder blades, supporting the alignment
of the cervical spine, allowing the head to rest evenly over the torso.
Jyeshtha Sharira mudra activates the qualities of the space element, including a sense of expansiveness that allows us to access the subtle dimensions of our being. This wider perspective can be helpful in allowing us to recognize our own possibilities beyond the limitations of the personality.
This gesture activates Vishuddha chakra, located at the throat, supporting the process of spiritual purification. Through this process, limiting beliefs come to the surface
to be seen and gradually released, further enhancing our ability to open to our
limitless possibilities.
As Jyeshtha Sharira mudra opens us to new possibilities, creativity is naturally enhanced, especially through speaking and singing.
For greater comfort in this gesture, we recommend the seated position using the support of a wall or the restorative position, lying on the back with the arms resting on a cushion, with a bolster under the knees.
