Not long to go until prizegiving for our U5-U17 players!

Each session will run for around 45 minutes, with four awards for each team, along with some special club-wide accolades.

We’ll also be putting together a pictorial review of the season to celebrate some of the great moments from 2026. If you have photos from the season that you’re happy for us to include, please email them to [email protected].

We look forward to seeing you on October 18!

GFC AIMS High!

We were super excited to see so many of our Junior players - past and present - among the thousands of Intermediate athletes competing at the AIMS Games in Tauranga earlier this month.

Not only did they show off the football and futsal skills they’ve been perfecting at Wainoni Park, we also had our members making their mark in cross country and other competitions across the week-long sports festival.

Congratulations to our 2026 GFC players Isaac, Ash, Jackson, Ilhan, Toby, Nico, Benji and Indi. We’re very proud of you all!

TOUCH OF SUCCESS!

The congratulations to our senior teams just keep coming! Today we’re celebrating Senior Men’s team Touch Wood, who won the 2026 Men’s Divisional Cup!

After a 5-0 semi-final win over Western Springs, Touch Wood beat Bucklands Beach’s Favela Flavour 3-1 in the final, held at Māngere Centre Park.

Captained by Toby Dean and coached by Vincent Bould, who was unable to play this season due to injury, it was a fantastic achievement from a great bunch of lads.

Congratulations, Touch Wood!

FYERS UP TO HELP!

A big shout-out to Ceanne Fyers, our latest Thumbs Up Award recipient!

In her first season with the Women’s First Team, the Valkyries, Ceanne has thrown herself into club life. She not only put in long shifts in the kitchen, but along with teammates Kayla, Olivia, Sophia and Erica, turned up early for our Football Fiesta to help set up, run sales and referee five games!

We love seeing our adult players getting stuck in and helping make GFC the community it is. Thanks Ceanne — you’re a star!

A big thank you to The Malt Greenhitheand our local Thumbs Up Award supporters BP 2go Motor Centre, 48 Northcote Rd, Elevate Chiropractic, The Red Fort Indian Restaurant & Bar, The Collins Cafe and Bar and Broderick Printing & Design Ltd for helping us recognise our volunteers.

FROM GFC TO OFC CHAMPION!

WOW! Congratulations to local girl Bonnie Rice, who has just captained New Zealand to victory in the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship in the Solomon Islands.

Bonnie, who started playing football in our First Kicks programme, was named Player of the Match in the final. She scored twice in New Zealand’s 4–0 win over New Caledonia.

She also produced a 94th-minute stunner against Fiji earlier in the tournament – a long-range belter into the top corner to seal a 1–0 win.

Now Bonnie is hotly tipped to be among those heading to Morocco with the Young Football Ferns for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup next month.

She’s come a long way since kicking a ball around Wainoni Park as a five-year-old, and we couldn’t be prouder!

Well done, Bonnie!!

NO SUBS TOP OF THE TABLE!

Huge congratulations to Senior Women’s team, No Subs, who topped their division this season!

While they certainly lived up to their name – often playing without substitutes – it didn’t stop them putting together some seriously impressive stats: losing just one game, scoring 46 goals and conceding just two!

We’ve loved having this team at GFC this season and can’t wait to see them back on the pitch in 2027!
