And just like that, Nationals is done! ππ
Wendy was up first yesterday and started strong, but her opponent fought back to take it 3β1.
Kaitlyn up next β the masters were mastering π
and despite a good fight, she went down in 3.
Miriama pulled it out of the bag AGAIN with another convincing 3β0 win πͺ followed by Ollie, who absolutely smashed it to take another 3β0 win!
That left T**irangi and Levin locked at 2β2, with everything coming down to Kerrie in the decider. She kept everyone on their toes right to the end, battling all the way to 5 before the win was snatched away. So close!
That leaves our D Grade Ladies finishing 8th in New Zealand π³πΏ
While it wasn't quite the result they were hoping for when they travelled down to Wellington, they got so much more than a win out of this trip.
β Miriama officially hit C Grade
β Four of our juniors had a pretty good excuse to skip school for the week and got to represent their club at a national competition
β Our seniors showed just how much all the work they've put into their squash and fitness has paid off
β And while some matches went down as losses on paper, several were literally only a couple of points away from going their way.
Most importantly, they had an awesome week together, played a LOT of squash and represented T**irangi with plenty of fight.
A huge thank you to Adrian for coaching and managing the team throughout the week; Paul and Tim, our brilliant support crew; and Niki, who still made the trip to support everyone despite having to give up her place in the team after the injury she sustained during the regional knockout round. π
A huge thank you to Tawa squash club for the amazing hosting, the food, the party... Everything!
Last but not least.. we couldn't do it without our amazing sponsors Bennett Advisory Ltd and Fergs Kayaks Auckland. Keeping our team warm and stylish with hoodies π
Not the placing they travelled down hoping for, but definitely a Nationals to remember. π
T**irangi D Grade Ladies β 8th in NZ! ππ
