On Sunday Auckland hosted the Bowden/Baskiville Pairs. There was a really good turn out for this event with 50+ entries from all around the country playing

In the semi finals it was Matthew Ellis & Anthony Mcqouid vs Alex Reed & Keith Setter. In the other semi it was Marcus Trilin & Denise Clarkson vs Nathan Trowell & Dylan Foster.

Matthew was always in charge of his semi and progressed into the final. However Marcus and Nathan had a great tussle climaxing in an extra end.

The Jack got spewed out to side of mat and Nathan played a great wobbler with his 1st to sit half inch off. Marcus moved bowl just off with 2nd then played a screamer with his last to play bowl off for win!

The final was a seesaw game with great bowls all round which again went to extra end with Marcus and Denise coming out winners

Huge thanks again to the Bowden family and Marilyn Baskiville for their continuing support of this wonderful tournament in memory of two fine people Peter Bowden and Lou Baskiville.

It was terrific to see family of Peter and Lou's wife Marilyn playing and enjoying companionship of fellow bowls many of who played against them in years gone by.

We look forward to doing it all again next year!!!

WELCH RESULTS!
1.5 weeks ago our top 8 squad took to the road down to New Plymouth to compete in Div 1 of the interprovincial (Welch Trophy). The other centres we were competing against for the biggest representative trophy in NZ consisted of reigning champions Hutt Valley, Waikato, Tauranga, Ashburton and Canterbury.

Auckland gave it our best effort and had an outside chance heading into the final round but ultimately finished 3rd place behind Hutt Valley. Placing third meant that we stay in division 1 for next year where we will give it another crack again.

The top scorer for Auckland for the event was Matthew Foster with 11.5 wins out of 15 games.

Solid result guys and a good way to complete our representative calendar for 2026!

Come down to Western Hall this weekend to see the Young Guns in action! 🤩

Hosted for the first time in Auckland!

Young Guns 2026 kicks off tomorrow at the Western Hall in Auckland and there are some things we'd like everyone to know!

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭?

Both days are a 10am start, which means you get a sleep in.

You're welcome.

𝐃𝐨 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲 𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡?

Only if you don't want delicious and entirely free sausages, onions, bread and burgers.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐈 𝐝𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐈'𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐬?

We have obtained a liquor license for this event, and the Young Guns Committee are also putting on a free dinner at the hall.

We'd love it if people stayed at the hall to watch the rest of the bowls and enjoy each others company.

For those who don't want to stay in their bowling clothes, there is a shower at the hall too- you may never want to leave!

We will also have a big screen TV on at the hall to watch the Warriors.

𝐀𝐍𝐃

As if the above wasn't exciting enough, we also have a website where you can follow all the Young Guns action- check it out at the link below:

https://mfy.co.nz/apps/young-guns/

We will have live streaming of the entire day for those who can only attend in spirit.

Bring it on.
