You've got to be in it to win it! The P Class North Islands are fast approaching this weekend and with 18 entries already (10 boys & 8 girls) we're expecting a good fleet to be racing this coming weekend. The long-range forecast looks like it should hopefully be another glamour weekend of racing in Auckland.

Thanks to our friends at Fosters Chandlery & Harken there are some sweet spot prizes available to all entrants and as a bonus prize everyone that is entered by midnight tonight will go into a bonus spot draw to win a brand new P Class sail that has been generously donated by one of our valued club members.

The Doyle Sails 12-Foot Skiff Team made their debut at Opening Day Racing yesterday, launching the revamped Mr. Scruff and starting the season with intention by taking the bullet on Race Day 1 of the Doyle Sails Akarana Spring Series 🏁

Doyle Sails is a key part of the Royal Akarana family and this is an exciting new extension of their support of the club, our skiff fleets were already set for a great season this summer and this partnership is just the icing on the cake. We're excited to see some new sails going onto the fleet and making a fast class even faster. Huge thanks to the team at Doyle Sails for getting this over the line in time for opening day and we're looking forward to watching the team perform over the season.

It was absolute glamour conditions for racing and the crew of Leo Brown & Harry Wilson braved the 2 rig while many didn't and they were rewarded for their decision ahead of racing. The boys are pushing hard to get the most out of the boat over the next few months as the fleet builds towards the Interdominion Championships in January.

Fancy getting your brand on a 12 or 18-foot skiff team for the season? Reach out to the club team and we can go through how this kind of partnership can be a pretty unrivalled activation opportunity for your brand. There are very few fleets that look this good and produce racing this exciting in Auckland harbour!

What goes into getting a P-Class fleet ready for racing?

With the North Island Championships coming up, we’ve been giving our P-Class fleet some attention, with the support of our partners at Harken Fosters.

The refit included a range of new rope and hardware:

Marlow Ropes: Excel, Excel Fusion and D12 SK78 Dyneema rope
Harken: Carbo ratchet blocks (both swivel and fixed), AirBlocks and hook-in halyard blocks
Tylaska: Ring ferrules

Our club boats get plenty of use throughout the season, so keeping the running rigging and hardware in good condition is an important part of maintaining the fleet.

A big thank you to Harken Fosters for supplying the new gear and continuing to support our club and youth sailing programmes.

Getting your own P-Class ready for the North Island Champs? The team at Harken Fosters in Westhaven can help with any last-minute rope, hardware or technical advice you might need before racing gets underway.

Another great school holiday programme has wrapped up!

With the summer weather starting to come in, we’ve had some fantastic days on the water. Our Sail and Play, Learn to Sail and Race Group sailors have been making the most of it, building skills, gaining confidence and enjoying plenty of time on the water.

We’re looking forward to plenty more sailing as we head into summer!
