Rosso Sensei was the first non-Japanese to be admitted into and serve a traditional apprenticeship as a live-in student at Aikido Hombu Dojo, under the late Ni-daime Doshu, UESHIBA Kisshomaru (1921–

1999). He was also the first New Zealander to receive a 5th degree black belt from the late Ni-daime Doshu. Auckland Aikikai is recognised as an independant Aikikai organisation by Aikido Hombu Dojo and Rosso Sensei is an internationally acknowledged chief instructor. He has taught Aikido for many years both nationally and internationally and returns regularly to Hombu Dojo to further his own training. Auckland Aikikai has several dojo throughtout the greater Auckland area and also in New Plymouth. Please refer to the website, www.aikikai.co.nz, for further information on training times and events. We welcome you to join us in energetic and enjoyable training sessions to develop yourself and others through the martial art of Aikido. All new members are welcome to all classes!

Kia ora everyone.

Auckland Aikikai is proud to be running seminars again for current, new and ex-members of the Auckland Aikikai and Shinryukan family.

We will be running two seminars before the end of the year and this is the first one. Its 3 hrs in duration from start to finish as we welcome our Aikido family back to Kohimarama.

It will be great to train, see old faces and catchup around the art we all love.

The seminars will be small and intimate with around a dozen or so people confirmed already, as we look to rebuild and foster new and old connections.

Kia ora.

We hope everyone is safe and well during these unprecedented times. We will be monitoring the traffic light system to see when it will be safe for our students to train indoors. Until then we will update everyone on re-start times for the dojo as they come to hand.

We usually break for Xmas around the second week of December so it may be we take a cautious approach and start training in the New Year. Although this is not ideal, we have a duty of care to those who train in this beautiful art.

In the meantime, take care and look after each other.
