☀️Thursday Summer Football kicks off tomorrow! 🥳

Please re check your teams fixtures & read below! (There have been some changes)

⚽ Pitch Setup & Pack Down

👆Pitch Setup: Grades 10/11 & 12/13 will always have to setup their fields (Goals with nets) Each team is responsible for setting up the pitch they are playing on before their match. Please arrive early enough to set up your designated field and junior goals.

👇Pack Down: Youth/Senior will always have to pack down their fields Teams playing in the final game slot of the evening must assist with packing down field equipment and returning goals to the designated areas.

Note: Senior Men's Teams playing on fields 7 & 8 each Thursday will need to setup & pack down these fields as there are no games played on these before 6.30pm.

🛑IMPORTANT!🛑 -
🥅 GOALS: This is a shared park used by other sports codes. Leaving goals out impacts other user groups, so all goals must be returned to the designated container area at the end of play.

⏰ Key Match Details & Timings
Matches are run on a strict central horn/hooter system. Games commence on the sounding of the 'Ho**er', which will also sound for half-time (a straight turnaround with no stoppage time).

⚽ Grade Start Times & Match Durations:
10 / 11 Grades: 4:30 PM start (12 minutes each way, instant turnaround).
12 / 13 & 14 Girls Grades: 5:30 PM start (12 minutes each way, instant turnaround).
Youth & Senior Grades: 6:30 PM start (20 minutes each way).

🧑‍⚖️ Referees
All teams must provide their own referee for half of each game.
Please maintain a positive, encouraging environment on the sidelines for all players and volunteer referees.

🛑🌦️ WEATHER CANCELLATIONS ⛈️🛑
Please do not bombard us with messages and emails asking if Football is on, as we likely won't have time to respond due to being busy setting up. If we need to cancel games due to bad weather, announcements will be posted on the RDS page and group. Assume it is on, until we post otherwise.

🙌 1st afternoon of School Summer Football ✅️

We hope everyone enjoyed today! The first day is always the most chaotic with people getting used to the layout and schedule.

We do however have a couple of things we really need people to get on board with!

⚽ Setup & Pack down Help Needed
RDS is run entirely by volunteers and with so many teams participating, we need all hands on deck with those that can lend a hand.

✌️Setup: Anyone who can arrive early to help set up fields and goals would be greatly appreciated. Volunteers will handle as much as possible, but teams are asked to assist in ensuring fields are ready for kickoff.

👇Pack Down: At the end of the final games, please assist with packing down field equipment and returning everything to the container, where team members will be on hand to guide you.

🥅 GOALS: These need to be stacked either above field 6, back at the container or by field 12, outside cricket Ovals (See map for locations + field 12)

🛑IMPORTANT – All Goals Must Be Returned to over by the containers: This is a shared park used by other sports codes throughout the week. Leaving goals out impacts other user groups, so every goal must be put away at the end of play.
Please encourage your team parents to pitch in - more hands make light work!

🔄 Field Layout Changes
There are layout adjustments between the 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM games. Fields will be clearly marked, but we will need support from parents to ensure a quick and smooth transition.

🧑‍⚖️ Referees & Sideline Behavior
Referees are provided for matches and are young footballers learning the craft. We ask all managers, parents, and supporters to encourage their development and maintain a positive, supportive environment on the sidelines.

👏🏼Athletics is back for the summer👏🏼

Rodney District Sports Athletics Club

We are excited to announce that registrations are now open for the 2026/27 RDS Athletics season!

Run • Jump • Throw • Have Fun 🏃🏻🏃🏻‍♀️👟🤩

Whether your child has done athletics before or is giving it a go for the first time, RDS Athletics is all about getting kids active, learning new skills, building confidence and having fun.

Held on Wednesday evenings at Metro Park, Millwater, our community athletics programme gives local kids the chance to experience running, jumping and throwing and developing athletics skills in a fun and supportive environment.

No previous athletics experience is needed – just come along and have a go and have a great time!

2026/27 SEASON

Congratulations to Damon Hoskins on being named RDS Club Person of the Year!

A truly well‑deserved recognition of the incredible impact he has already made. With so many volunteers giving their time and doing outstanding work across RDS, this award is especially significant as it is the only individual honour presented club‑wide for exceptional contribution.

Since joining RDS this season, Damon has quickly become an invaluable part of our football community. His passion for girls football, dedication to his players, and commitment to the wider club have been clear from day one. He consistently goes above and beyond, giving his time, energy and expertise to support player development and create positive experiences for everyone involved.

Alongside his coaching ability, Damon brings a fantastic personality and a great sense of humour, making training enjoyable while building strong connections with players, families and fellow coaches. He’s a familiar face at Metro Park, always ready to lend a hand — from early‑morning field setups for zone days and tournaments to mentoring and supporting fellow coaches.

And of course, he doesn’t just coach — he still insists on playing too! With a few more years under the belt and an injury list that seems to rival the squad, getting through a full 90 minutes can be a challenge. But credit where it’s due: he turned up, pulled on the boots and gave it everything, proving that the love of the game (and perhaps a slightly optimistic outlook!) never fades.

We’re confident Damon will continue to play an important role in shaping the future of RDS. His enthusiasm, leadership and commitment to growing girls’ football make him a tremendous asset to our club, and we’re excited to see the lasting contribution he’ll make in the years ahead.
