Whangaparaoa Tennis Club

Situated at Edith Hopper Park, the Whangaparaoa Tennis Club offers 6 artificial grass floodlit tennis courts, clubhouse with bar and plenty of parking.

The club runs organised social club play year-round and organises inter-club teams at all levels for Seniors, Juniors (8-19yrs) and Mid-Week players in the Tennis Northern competition, during the summer tennis season (September – April). Our club coach runs programmes for all beginner players from the age of 4 through to 99. Club courts are available for limited public use at a cost of $5/hour per

person, at times that the courts are not required for organised club play or by members of the club during casual play.

We’re delighted to announce our Interclub teams for the 2026/27 season!

We have around 80 players representing the club this season, plus a strong group of listed reserves, across our Saturday Doubles, Singles and Thursday Doubles competitions.

There’s fantastic quality and depth throughout the squads, and we’re really looking forward to seeing everyone out on court representing WGP this season.

A special mention and huge thanks to our Club Captain, Kerry Morris, who has taken on the considerable task of working through the combinations and formulating all of this season’s teams. A massive job – well done, Kerry! 👏

Very best of luck to every player and every team for the season ahead. Play hard, enjoy it and represent WGP with pride!

A reminder that the Club is holding its annual working bee this Saturday, in preparation for the new season.

We are asking for volunteers to come along and help with the annual spring clean / working bee to prepare the clubhouse and courts for the start of the new tennis season.

There are a number of small jobs, both inside and out, which help make our club a pleasant place to play tennis and socialise, so we would love as much help as possible, please, even if you can just spare an hour or two.

No need to contact prior, just turn up!

The World Tennis Number (WTN) is the global rating system that measures a player’s current ability based on their match results, making it easier to find and compete against players of a similar level. This is the ranking system that is now used for competitive tennis across NZ.

WTN has recently announced several changes designed to improve the system and the experience for players.

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 & 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝘀

Good news - the Committee has decided to keep membership fees for the 2026-27 season the same as last year. Club membership fees have now remained static for the last 3 seasons.

Subscription invoices will be emailed to you towards the end of next week, with your membership fees due by 14th September 2026, which is the official start date of the new season.

In partnership with our Head Coach - Jon Speed (Court Lab NZ), we had a great turnout for our French Open Hotshots Junior Tournament over the weekend, with 26 kids competing across Red, Orange, Green, and Yellow. Thank you to all the parents and players for making it such a fantastic day of tennis!

🌟 Player Spotlight
It was great to see the hard work pay off for George Cropp! George had an incredibly close battle with Jai in the final. These two also compete for who spends the most time practicing at the club each week. It is awesome to see that dedication and extra time on court directly paying off on tournament day.

What a fantastic day at our annual Whangaparaoa Ladies Day on Sunday! 🎾☀️

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the event such a great success. It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout of players, supporters and spectators enjoying a brilliant day of tennis, fun and community spirit.

Congratulations to Debbie Martin & Gill Hanna, who were crowned the overall winners on the day - a fantastic achievement! 👏🏆

A special thank you also goes to all of our generous prize sponsors for your support, we truly appreciate your contribution in helping make the day so memorable.

We’re already looking forward to next year but first, our next focus is our annual Men's Day on Sunday 17th May.
