The Auckland Rugby Referees Association is an independent body that provides rugby officials at rugby matches in Auckland and, through the representative system, throughout New Zealand and internationally. Each year, the ARRA provides officials to over 3,100 rugby matches at Senior, Junior and Secondary School level from our 220+ membership. ⭐ Referee Spotlight - Glen Devenie ⭐

Meet Glen Devenie. Glen spent many years out in the middle before moving into coaching over 10 years ago, and he’s been a constant presence in our coaching scene ever since.

You’ll find Glen out there most Saturdays, Veo in hand, travelling from ground to ground to support referees with video and feedback. His willingness to help is second to none, and he’s always happy to share his knowledge with anyone looking to improve.

Glen’s journey into coaching came after dealing with injuries during his refereeing career, but that hasn’t slowed him down one bit. In fact, he even laced up the boots and took charge of a game when numbers were tight!

Last night, our coaches had the privilege of hearing from George Jahnke, Touch NZ's Game Development Manager. With over 20 years of experience in coaching and coach development across all levels, it was great to have him in 🧑‍🏫

He spoke about the GROW method, how we should approach coaching, and what to be aware of when interacting with people

Our coaches took all this in - while being treated to some pizzas 🍕 - and we can't wait to see the positive impact it has on our referees
