The Kinks said You Really Got Me when they heard about the Rockin the 60’s Bash at the Manukau Cruising Club.

The Who were excited, declaring, “Yeah baby, that’s My Generation!”

Otis Redding promised, “I’ll be there,” (Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay style, while The Doors knew this event was going to Light My Fire.

Aretha Franklin simply demanded Respect, and The Beach Boys were ready to bring nothing but Good Vibrations. Bob Dylan may even roll on in Like a Rolling Stone.

Steppenwolf shouted, “Let’s go — we’re Born to Be Wild!” while The Animals knew exactly where they were headed — The House of the Rising Sun.

Of course, The Beatles reckon it might be A Hard Day’s Night, but Roger Miller reminded everyone you don’t have to be King of the Road to make your way to the Manukau Cruising Club.

Nancy Sinatra said These Boots Are Made for Walkin’ — all the way to the Manukau Cruising Club — before The Beatles finally wrapped it all up with one message:

Come Together.

The Manukau Cruising Club and our Executive Committee would like to thank everyone who contributed to making Sunday’s Country Hoedown such an exceptional day.

To all the talented musicians who generously gave their time to perform, thank you for helping keep cherished venues like ours alive through the power of live music and community spirit.

To our supporters, dancers, friends, and members, thank you for the incredible feedback, enthusiasm, and warm friendly atmosphere throughout the day. The enjoyment and engagement from everyone present truly made the event something special.
To our volunteers, workers, bar staff, and committee members who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make these events possible, your dedication is deeply appreciated. These occasions simply could not happen without you.

A special acknowledgement to our junior members who were present throughout the day — you all did the MCC proud as a family-friendly club focused on community, inclusion, and enjoyment for all ages. The artwork at the entrance was fantastic and greatly admired.

Let us all take a moment to congratulate ourselves on sharing another memorable day celebrating country music and live entertainment. Music continues to hold a special place in bringing good people together, and Sunday was a wonderful reflection of that spirit.

See you all for the next great event on Sunday 26th July at the waters edge which will mid winter 60’s theme
