The Akios AirPower available in NZ this week, talk to us today.
Our very own England legend has been back out with his Akios Airpower 435 RXP/SRS and we are getting the impression he is starting to get A real feel for this exceptional piece of Carbon. Here is what James had to say!
"When I first picked up the Akios Airpower I thought this really is a “three piece beast” ! The rod has got a lovely hybrid tip so that you can see bites from the smallest of fish. I was seeing the bites from 10cm gobi’s, 5cm turbot and 15cm flounders with ease.
I used it high reel seat with a fixed spool and low reel seat with a multiplier. No issues with either casting position. I strapped my Akios shuttle 656 to the Airpower and a 4oz lead and picked up the rod and it felt like I was casting a feather. The rod was sending the lead with ease, so I then progressed to 5oz and the same happened. When I used the 6oz, I finally felt the true power of the rod. I hit 200g off the ground and the rod loaded up nicely and sent the lead to the other side of the river (roughly 200yards). I then pendulum cast 6oz and again the same thing happened. I can’t explain how blown away I was by the casting capability of this rod.
However, I was also scratching in the edge with a 2oz lead and an urfe rig and the rod was still able to show the smallest of bites and the movement of the lead. It shocked me how sensitive the tip and how versatile the rod is ! I could cast 5yards with 2oz and 190 yards with 6oz and the rod could cope well with the two completely different styles of fishing.
For me, this proved that the rod can handle everything and perform well in all situations.
In my opinion anyone who is looking to have a go at continental style fishing but is unsure on buying a rod, should consider the Airpower it is a great all rounder with a lot of power and backbone for strong casters.
I took the rod down to the Kent sportscast field event to actually measure a cast and I recorded a 204m cast with 175g.
I have yet to take this rod on a proper fishing session but without a doubt it will be in my rod bag wherever I next go. This has to be my new favourite rod, the Akios Airpower is a pleasure to cast and fish with".
Fantastic stuff once again James and we would like to congratulate you and the rest of the squad on A awesome result in Ireland.
