Running in Monte Cecilia Park this morning.

Parents consistently talk about providing opportunities for their kids. However, I think that for the most part, they get it wrong.

Meaningful opportunities are opportunities to be challenged, to learn resilience, to be forced to become stronger, to see things through, to accept responsibility. They are less so opportunities to do new or fun things.

This morning's opportunity was a park of steep hills and consistent rain.
