Step into Auckland’s Living History…
Join us for an afternoon of storytelling, history, and community as we launch a brand-new book celebrating one of Auckland’s oldest and most beloved landmarks: Dacre Cottage.
Built in 1855 and nestled between Long Bay Regional Park and the Whangaparāoa Peninsula, Dacre Cottage is the second oldest standing building in Auckland—and the stories it holds are as enduring as its stone walls.
This fascinating new book brings to life:
🌿 The legacy of Captain Ranulph Dacre and his descendants
🌊 The natural beauty and biodiversity of the surrounding coastal strip
🏡 The passion and perseverance of local volunteers who have protected and preserved the Cottage for decades
🗺️ Tales of kauri logging, early farming, and prominent historical figures including Chief Eruera Patuone, Sir John Logan Campbell, and Governor Hobson
It’s a story of place, people, and purpose—of heritage preserved by heart.
Why You Should Attend:
✔️ Hear behind-the-scenes stories from the book's creators
✔️ Celebrate a remarkable chapter in Auckland’s history
✔️ Support the amazing volunteer work keeping Dacre Cottage and its surroundings thriving
