Here is the Term 4 Newsletter which contains important information regarding the dance shows, rehearsals and photo day. Please read it carefully and feel free to contact me if you have queries regarding any of the details.
I am also announcing today, that after 17 years of running Anjannette's Academy of Modern Dance, I am stepping away from being a dance school owner and teacher in 2023. I have loved being a dance teacher and feel privileged to have been part of so many wonderful girls and boys lives for so long, but I'm now ready to see what else is out there for me outside of dancing.
Thank you to everyone who has shown me so much love and support over the years. I will miss all the dancers and their families and hope you all continue to find joy, friendship and confidence through dance.
I will be handing over the reins to Kayla Wells who will step into the space left by AAMD to run a dance school which will be called Relevé Dance.
Information regarding enrolling in the new dance school will be sent to you after the dance shows in November. Please see Kayla's introduction below to get familiar with her and her plans for the new dance school:
Hello, my name is Kayla Wells and I am the new owner of the dance school which will be taking the place of AAMD at the Western Heights School hall. The new dance school will be called Relevé Dance.
I have 20+ years dance experience and 4 years dance teaching experience.
I have completed the JDNZ Syllabus in Jazz to the Advanced 2 level and completed the Advanced Jazz 1 level in NZAMD syllabus. I have also trained to advanced levels of JDNZ Lyrical and had many years of experience dancing in other styles such as Contemporary, Musical Theatre and Hip Hop. I am also the business owner and Director of Kayla’s Dance Emporium.
Throughout my many years of dancing I have always had one dream, and that was to teach dancing to children. In assisting to attain my dream, I have been helping Anjannette teach several Jazz classes for the last 4 years. I have gained so much knowledge and experience from this time and feel this has given me the confidence, drive and passion to take this next step in running a dance school.
I have developed a fantastic relationship with the students and their parents in this time and I aim to continue and develop these fantastic relationships within Relevé Dance.
Relevé Dance will be staying with the JDNZ syllabus for the Jazz and Lyrical Classes for 2023.
Hiphop will be changing to the Asia Pacific Dance Association syllabus called Urban Ignition.
I will also be introducing the APDA Contemporary Syllabus, Lucidity, to the dance timetable.
Asia Pacific Dance Association is a fantastic dance syllabus which is taught by dance schools in New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand and South Africa. It is recognised around the world and is a fast growing dance syllabus that is fresh and current.
Relevé Dancers will have the opportunity to audition for our Competition/Performance Teams. We will also have selected time slots available for dancers to learn Competition Solos, Duos and Trio work.
I have a vision for the Relevé Dance studio to be a place where all our dancers have fun, gain confidence and feel part of a tight knit dance family. I have made life long friends through dance and I’m sure you and your dancer will too!
Kind regards
Anjannette
