🏆GRATEFUL🏆
Running a sub 2h30 marathon on a challenging course in crazy, windy conditions was challenging!
The process to get my mind & body ready to run on this course (hilly upfront) in those conditions (ex-tropical cyclone Lola on her way) was a lot of hard work.
I ran nearly 30kms solo, staying in my mental bubble knowing that this was my 3rd attempt at a sub 2h30 Auckland marathon. Now, I respect those who have run sub 2h30 marathons before but the Akl mara course is brutal. 17kms hilly upfront to beat up the legs, quiet roads out towards St. Heliers & the wind can do anything on the day.
The 1st pic is a symbol I drew on my arm 🤜🤛 and I would do the sign to remind myself of that brave moment from Springboks & Damian Willemse to call a scrum in the 22 against France. I told myself that I would need to be brave and back myself and my body when the going got tough.
What a day! What an experience!
Can't wait for next race on 16 Dec but for now, a little R&R is the order of the day.
I am still learning and growing. If I can do it, so can you!
