This post is probably a bit self-congratulatory, but I just realised that this month marks my 10 year anniversary as a published author.

In July 2014 I brought out OLD FRIENDS, the first novella in my Chase Investigations private eye series. The same month came HONEY TRAP, it's successor.

I've now published 28 titles, including:

3 dystopian novels in the Early Warning series
5 action thrillers in The Division series (plus a boxed set)
7 novellas and 2 novels in the Chase Investigations series (plus 2 boxed sets)
1 each in the Nicki Cooper Mystery Series, The Service spy series and the SOE WW2 series (BEHIND ENEMY LINES)
5 middle grade mysteries in The Bow Street Runners series

With the 6th Bow Street tale, THE CASE OF THE FIREBUG FRENZY, coming in just a few days and 2 more scheduled this year, by the end of 2024 I'll have published over 30 books.

Like I said, perhaps a bit self-congratulatory, but not too bad an effort for a kid who spent most of his time in class either daydreaming or trying to make people laugh.

OLD FRIENDS is certainly not my best book, but it's where it all started for me and will always be special to me.

I haven't won any awards or topped Whitcoulls' bestseller list, but it keeps me entertained!

Well, knock me down with a feather...not only did THE CASE AT PIRATE'S POINT launch yesterday, but it's predecessor THE CASE OF THE GOODNIGHT GANG is the #1 New Release on Amazon for children's detective books.

Plus it's Easter, which means chocolate and hot cross buns in our house, and a few days off...a pretty good end to the week, I reckon!

The Case at Pirate's Point is set at a fictitious beach in the Coromandel, which may or may not resemble Waihi Beach to some readers...

The Case of the Goodnight Gang is now available on Amazon (free if you're in KU).

The first in The Bow Street Runners series and also my first middle-grade mystery. I have to say, the series is heaps of fun to write and a real escape from everyday life. The series will be rolling out over the next several months.

It's action-packed and funny, with heroes that kids can actually identify with - no magic or fantasy figures here, folks.

If you don't know who the original Bow Street Runners were, they were the first detective squad of the Met Police in Victorian London. Renowned thief catchers and feared by the underworld, their mantle has now been picked up by a group of young Kiwi kids who throw themselves into their mystery in The Case of the Goodnight Gang.

I'm making my first foray into middle grade mysteries, and it's equal parts exciting and nerve wracking!

Kids are a tough crowd; they know what they like, and they're good at letting you know in the bluntest way if you've missed the mark.

But every kid deserves to read good books, to be entertained and transported to a world where they can forget about the pressures of modern life.

They deserve better than a lot of what they're actually given. They deserve adventure and fun and freedom.

So the first book in my new series The Bow Street Runners is available for pre-release now, hitting the market on 28th February.

The Case of the Goodnight Gang will be followed every 4 weeks by a new action-packed case for Sam, Grace and their friends to solve, until there are (at this stage) 8 exciting books in the hands of young readers who want to see if they can solve the mystery before the BSR crew.
