Good morning everyone,
We'll be back for term 4 of ASJI, with just one draw players can enter for the term! As usual, this draw will be a double round spanning two Sundays (two rounds per Sunday), so 4 matches in total. The dates for term 4 are:
Sunday October 29th & Sunday November 5th
These dates are slightly earlier than usual term 4 dates but are suited to enable players to get a few last-minute matches in before immersing themselves in exams and end-of-year assessments. Entries are now open on the website www.aucklandsquashjuniors.nz for Term 4. Entries will close on Sunday, October 22nd.
We would love to continue growing and expanding to new players from all clubs around Auckland, as a stepping stone for beginner players as well as an opportunity for additional competitive matches for more advanced juniors. Carol Owens, Eden Epsom squash coach, had the below to say about ASJI - thanks Carol Owens Squash Coaching!
Hi Everyone
I would just like to express my thanks as a coach at Eden Epsom to Georgia & Graeme for the work they both do to run this junior interclub competition - this format is such an important step into competitive squash. So many players have progressed up the grades thanks to this initiative. 🙏
I know many parents are new to squash so navigating your way around tournaments and the grading system can be a challenge. A progression from the top grades on Sunday mornings will be to play more weekend events on the calendar in the F grade senior divisions.
Please see my below school holiday programme and a 1500 points and below tournament I would love all the juniors playing in this competition to enter. Entries are now open on isquash.
Happy squashing
Carol Owens
This draw will be held solely at Remuera Rackets Club as although the double simultaneous venues worked well in term 3, term 4 entries tend to be fewer and therefore two venues shouldn't be necessary! However, ideally we will still have two venues running for some or all of the draws next year :)
Games will still start from 8.30am, with staggered start times for each division as usual.
WHERE TO ENTER?
Entries are done online, through www.aucklandsquashjuniors.nz under the 'Register to Play HERE' tab.
Entry cost is $30/draw.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions.
Paul and Joelle have just started another blistering season on the tough international circuit, and Paul reclaimed his #1 ranking, but probably only for a short time as it's anyone's game in the Mens. Joelle hasn't cracked the #1 but is still very much a force to be reckoned with and remains top 5 i...
