Well... apparently feeding race car people is just as expensive as racing them!!!

Last night we wrapped up my first season behind the wheel of with an end-of-season BBQ to say a massive THANK YOU to the incredible sponsors, supporters, mentors, family and friends who helped make it all possible.

35 people turned up over the night - and by the end of it they demolished platters, chips and dip, a full BBQ spread of steak, sausages, kebabs and rolls... proving that race teams can definitely move faster than the speed of light when food is involved!!!!?!

Special mention goes to the real winners of the evening – the pavlova, stuffed mushrooms and scotch eggs. They disappeared quicker than a fresh set of tyres on a slick track!

I also had the chance to give a speech and properly thank everyone who has backed me through my very first season. From those who shared knowledge, lent a hand in the pits, cheered from the sidelines, or invested in my racing journey – none of this would have happened without you.

To top it all off, our second car arrived yesterday and was dropped off just in time for the party - Thanks Bella and family for parting with your much loved car.

Thank you all for being part of the IndiJayd Motorsport journey. The first season may be nearly done, but we're only just getting started!!!!

Here’s my speech from last night:

Before this speech gets longer than a rain delay, I just want to say a massive thank you to all my sponsors, family, friends, and everyone who’s backed me through my first season racing in Youth Ministocks.

Jumping into speedway has been one heck of a ride…. loud, fast, slightly sideways at times…. and there’s no way I could have done it without all your support. Racing isn’t exactly a cheap sport… apparently tyres, fuel, and fixing the bits I accidentally “rearrange” all cost money. Who knew?!!???

To my sponsors: thank you for believing in me and helping get me out on the track this season. Because of your support, I’ve been able to learn heaps, build confidence, and enjoy every second of racing. I’m incredibly grateful you took a chance on me in my very first season…. hopefully I’ve made it look like a good investment so far!

To my family and everyone behind the scenes: thank you for all the late nights/early mornings, towing, wrenching, washing, organising, and testing your patience. There’s a lot more to speedway than just driving laps, and I appreciate every single thing you do to help make race days happen!
This season has already taught me so much, and I’m excited to keep learning, improving, and hopefully spending more time at the front than facing the wrong direction!!!??!
Thank you again for believing in me, supporting me, and being part of this journey. I truly couldn’t do it without you all.

NZ Ministock Champs Oxford Speedway

Well… Oxford definitely lived up to the hype. Absolute carnage, full noise, freezing mornings!

DAY 1
Started off in the yellow group from Grid 4 and crossed the line 8th on a VERY wet track. Honestly pretty sure someone dropped me into a boat race because I spent most of the time surfing around!!

Dad changed the setup for race 2 to try find me some traction… my car was about as hooked up as Mum trying to count laps 🤦‍♀️

Race 2 - Grid 10, finished 9th
Race 3 - Grid 10 again and finished 8th.

Ended the day 9th overall in my group on points which I was actually pretty stoked with.... especially considering I stayed OUT of the Oxford ditch all day (drifting the edge doesn’t count???!!). Apparently that’s basically a trophy in itself around here!!!!

DAY 2
Straight into the repercharge after just missing the top 6 for the final. Started Grid 3 and finished 5th… unfortunately needed 1st or 2nd to make the NZ title race. Into Best of the Rest which honestly is just a polite way of saying more chaos incoming!!!

A few mishaps changed the race program during the day which meant we were all trying to decode a muffled loudspeaker from the other end of the pits to figure out when we were racing next!! Had us sitting on the edge of our seats all day… literally… helmets on, belts half done up, listening like it was a secret FBI announcement.

Had grids 11, 2 and 15 through my next races and definitely got my moneys worth! Without the MyLaps system Mum was trying her best counting results but I’m pretty sure she was just making numbers up by the end of it 🤣

4 restarts in one race, a full 180 spin with head-on impact, also found myself involved in another car rolling … I’d like to say I was just an innocent bystander but apparently Oxford doesn’t really do quiet races and I had nowhere to go at short notice…one VERY short-lived brand new front bumper...Gone too soon - Glad the other driver was ok!

My favourite race was my last race where my car knew the assignment! One spin and two restarts later…starting off the back… decided to put the jandal up it and pass cars one by one - Finished 9th.

Watching the other races was nearly as fun as racing in them. At one point a car came flying over the bank...smashed through the mesh fence...took out a pole...and landed upside down on the road into the pits!!!! Definitely got everyone’s attention 😳 Thankfully the driver was also ok.
There were rolls everywhere... constant ditch removal missions and a few cars even ended up parked ON TOP of the bank behind the ditch… honestly Oxford should start charging rent for all the cars trying to move in there??!!

Massive thanks to all the volunteers and everyone at Oxford Speedway for putting the event together…loved finally seeing what all the noise was about! Also all the sponsors who support this meeting - Won an angle grinder because apparently Oxford Speedway could already tell I’d need it afterwards 😂

Thanks to all the other competitors who attended… The pits had such a cool atmosphere all weekend. BBQs going, coffee cups in hands and heaps of people helping each other out. Beautiful weather all weekend … even if it was -1 in the morning 🥶 Character building stuff.

ANZAC Weekend – Night 2 at Eastern States Speedway.

Last meeting of the season at Blenheim and apparently I decided to fit a whole season’s worth of action into one night.

Race 1
Started off grid 1… and had tyre creep problem *again*. Not the start I was hoping for - finished 14th. Straight back to the pits for a tyre change… Dads getting faster with all the practice!!!

Race 2
Decided the crowd deserved an extra show, so I introduced speedway gymnastics 😅 Hit a rut between turns 3 and 4 as I was sliding and showed everyone the underside of the car (you’re welcome) nearly rolled it… then finished the routine by heading gently into the wall and wrapping the front bumper up like a pretzel. 10/10 from the judges!!!!

Lily caught my five seconds of fame on video so there’s actual evidence this happened 🤣

Special mention to Kerry Hogarth who dropped everything wheeled the welder over and got stuck in - somehow getting me back out for Race 3. Legend.

Race 3
think my car enjoyed the spotlight and decided to put on an even bigger performance 😅
started grid 20 finished 12th.

Then…. plot twist.

Called to the tower and told I’d been disqualified by the referee.
Cue official protest.
GoPro footage reviewed by the Blenheim track steward.
Protest upheld… disqualification removed ✔️

Finished the Blenheim season bruised, welded back together and definitley smiling!!!

Anzac Day 2026
Eastern States Speedway

Wet track, 18 cars a race and enough drama for a whole Netflix series…

Night 1 at eastern states speedway supporting the Modifieds North vs South was a wild one.

Race 1 felt like tiptoeing on ice in a race car 😅 used all 5 tear-offs in one race (copped a full mud bath!!!) and brought it home from grid 8 to 8th - looking like I’d been rally driving.

Race 2 started 14th finished 10th.

Race 3 started grid 5 but hit a rut hard damaging my tyre (and doing firefly impression) and ended up 17th - not where i wanted to be - but we’re onto a fix this morning before racing again tonight.

It’s Anzac Day today, so I’m taking a moment to remember and thank all the people who served and sacrificed for us. We get to do this because of them ❤️ Lest we forget.

Back tonight for night two… hopefully with less gremlins and a little less drama 😜

First time at Ashburton speedway yesterday and safe to say… this track doesn’t mess around 😏
Heaps of banking, way faster than I thought so the first race was really about getting a feel for it - grid 6 finished 7th.

Second race was way more fun - grid 11 finished 5th. Tried a few different lines, sailing over a few ruts and it started to come together. Third fastest lap time so pretty stoked with that.

Final race - started on pole, was right in the mix battling for 2nd/3rd… until a flat tyre decided otherwise. That one stung a bit!!!?

Huge thanks to the Ashburton Speedway crew for such a mint track - so fun to race on! And to all the old faces and new ones we caught up with… worth the trip!!

Now I know the track, so Ashburton better watch out next time 😉

Wellllll… what a BIG weekend that was 😅
If resilience earned trophies, I’d be a winner!!!

Friday night - Eastern States:
Race 1 – Started 17th, finished 7th.
Race 2 – Grid 6 and briefly considered a future in drifting… spin + fishtail = 11th. Career change postponed.
Race 3 – Started 10, finished 10. Nice and tidy.

Saturday - Eastern States:
Race1 - Rolled out grid 5 feeling good. Finished 19th after my steering wheel literally popped off the mount 😳 Straight into the wall slowed myself down by tagging another ministock on the way through - sorry Ava 🙈

Race 2 – Grid 8, finished 11th.
Race 3 – Grid 22, drove through to 11th which I was pretty happy with.

Sunday - Nelson: was less damage/drama and more character building.

Race 1 - Started 20, finished 18 on a super slippery track with cars everywhere.
Race 2 - Grid 4, finished 11th.
Race 3 – Grid 8, finished 15th

I’m learning but I’m definitely keeping it entertaining along the way 😂
