𝗧𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀 - 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Ashburton Table Tennis is going well this year! Last week, we had 21 people playing over the course of the evening. Halfway through the night, I thought we had matched our 17 players from our first session in January, but the 4 late comers walked in the door. Fantastic! Great to see you all. This year we have met some new faces across the table, and they are of all ages and skill levels. Some have stayed and some have not but thank you for trying out Ashburton table tennis.

So why do people play table tennis? Some play for fun, to keep active, to improve mobility, to improve the brain & body co-ordination at the same time, and to sometimes socialise with fellow table tennis players. We see it all on a Tuesday night.

Remember; we play on Tuesday nights in the Social Hall of the Ashburton Club & MSA, 266 Burnett St entrance, Ashburton, New Zealand. Tables are set up after 7:00 PM. The weekly table fee is only a gold coin donation each week (to fund the cost of replacement balls). See you there. ~ Robert

𝗔 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝗼 𝗙𝗮𝗿
Our 2026 year has been fantastic so far with 4 nights of good attendance and new faces wanting to try out table tennis. Come and visit us next Tuesday night. What a fantastic start to the 2026 year! We had 17 people on the first night with a few new faces too. Last week, we had 25 people, and this week we had 17 people. That is amazing! This week, we saw Lewis and Sora come back for their second visit. Some great games were played. I have been speaking with the other co-ordinator (Andy Ford) and we would be happy to set up some teams competitions or Round Robin matches each night if there is enough people here to do so. They only requirement is to be able to commit to finishing if you enter that night (unless we reach pack up time). Let us know if you would be interested in this. The benefits are you are playing purposeful games with a bigger goal in mind and it keeps people from remaining on the tables too long and others missing out. Please bring a friend next time and please share our post and page with others.

𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿! 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Thank you to everyone that attended our 'Treats & Play' function on 16 December 2025 to mark the end of our playing sessions for 2025. We had 17 people attending and it was fantastic to see you all there playing and enjoying the complimentary finger food and refreshments.

The start date for 2026 will be Tuesday 27 January 2026. The timings will be 7:00 PM to 9:15 PM and we will be in the Social Hall again. Remember, we are located at:

Ashburton Table Tennis will be taking a break over the Christmas period. We will play our last games for the 2025 year on Tuesday night, 16 Dec 2025. We will be treating everyone with some nibbles and drinks, so please join us!

Thank you to everybody who has supported us by coming along during the year. Hopefully, some of you that we haven't seen for while may return next year. Thank you to the staff (Mike, Dana, & Toni) at the MSA who have supported our table tennis group by ensuring the social hall was always ready on Tuesday evenings.

Hi everybody,

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their table tennis.

There are two changes of playing nights coming up due to large indoor bowls tournaments booked at the MSA. They are as follows:

Tuesday, 18 Nov 2025 changed to Wednesday 19 Nov 2025, and
Tuesday, 25 Nov 2025 changed to Wednesday 26 Nov 2025.

These changes are for two weeks only, and we will return to normal Tuesday nights after that. If you have not played for a while, please come down and have some games. The more people we have, the more variety and fun. See you there.

Hope everyone is well and had a great Xmas and New Year.
We are starting up table tennis again this coming Tuesday night 11 February 2025. Our numbers got a bit thin last year so it would be good to see some more people turn up for a few games. Hi Everybody. Hope you are all well.

Its not closing night as we will continue on playing table tennis, however next Tuesday night 7 November, we will be putting on a few platters of food,and a free drink for each person that comes along. We will also have the tables up for those wanting to play table tennis.

So even if you havn’t been for a while, or don’t really want to play at the moment just come along for the evening for a chat and a bit of food.

Bit late with this, but John Cameron and Hugh Miller attended the NZ Clubs South Island Tournament back in September held in Oamaru.

John Cameron’s Kaiapoi team won the B Grade Championship, so well done John. A really good effort as it is a pretty tough competition. Hugh’s Hornby team didn’t do quite so well.

So hopefully we will see some of you next week.

You don’t need to, but if you want to let me know if you will be going just so we get a bit of a heads up for numbers that would be good, but if you just decide at the last minute thats ok as well.
