Sport Canterbury - Mid Canterbury In 1989, Sport Canterbury was established as the Regional Sports Trust for the Waitaha Te Tai Poutini regions. We continue to grow our hapori.

Sport Canterbury, established in 1989 as the Regional Sports Trust for Waitaha Canterbury/Te Tai Poutini West Coast, is dedicated to fostering community and connection through play, active recreation and sport. The role of sport is to provide people of all ages with a sense of community and connection. For that reason, for over 30 years we have been committed to empowering coaches, clubs and sports. We know the value that sport, play, physical activity and recreation have in building better communities - helping people feel good about themselves. Sport Canterbury is also the home of Healthy Families ลŒtautahi, Healthy Active Learning, Community Strength and Balance and Workplace First Aid, collaborating with partners in health and education to improve outcomes for the wellbeing of our whฤnau.

๐Ÿ… Keep it Positive was front and centre during Winter Tournament Week, with tamariki across Mid Canterbury stepping onto courts, fields and pitches to represent their schools, support their teammates and enjoy being active together.

A huge thank you to our incredible kaiako and school staff who helped bring the Keep it Positive kaupapa to life throughout the week. Through your encouragement, leadership and support, students were able to enjoy sport in positive, respectful and inclusive environments.

We loved seeing students put the Keep it Positive messages into action, showing respect, teamwork and encouragement both on and off the field!
