Hearing the buzz about ski touring this winter but not sure where to start? 🏔️🏂⛷️

We have two spaces available on our Intro to Ski touring course September 9-10th - the perfect opportunity to begin exploring the backcountry on skis or a spliboard. Content includes equipment, route planning, skinning technique and basic avalanche awareness.

Come dig a pit with us! Two spots have opened up on an avalanche awareness course with NZSSI this weekend.

The course follows the curriculum and is your first step on a formal avalanche education journey. As well as gaining knowledge to keep yourself and your mates safe in the back country this winter, you'll also receive an Avalanche Skills Course 1 certificate of completion.

Where will I stay during my NZSSI course? 🏠🏔️🛌

During your course, the cosy Ferrier lodge at Temple Basin will be your home. Our purpose built lecture theatre provides the perfect venue for theory sessions or indoor rope work, while the open plan dining room and lounge is a great place to relax at the end of the day and meet fellow mountain enthusiasts.

NZSSI courses are a gateway for many to discovering the magic of Temple Basin - world class skiing accessed from our mountain lodge.

Why not stay on after your course and put your new found skills to use in our mountain playground? Rope tows provide quick access to the upper basin, from where ski tourers can access numerous untracked zones such as the mighty Mingha.
