It’s a real honour being in the position as new owners of linger die. With it being one of the oldest MTB races around and still going strong today whilst many events have closed or disappeared. It’s days like today seeing so many new faces on the trails, talking with riders about facing their own fears and giving this years event a crack humbles us big time. We are blessed to have this place to ride on and it our goal to share it with you. So, if you like the people I meet today can face their own challenges then so can you. Come join us on race day 19 September to be part of the action ether if your a runner or rider this place like no other. 👊🙏😎

Please note changes to race start times

🏃‍♀️- Runners now start at 9am

🚲 - Elite, Open & E-bikers now start at 10:30am

We have had to make some last minute changes to the course and in doing so start times have been amended to the above to suit. Good news is for the bikers you have another 30min sleep in and now start at 10:30am. Both elite and open course stay the same.

Runners….we hear you too so your start will now be 9am. Your course stays the same as the open course but you get a new and improved last 5km down hill back to the finish line just to yourselves without the risk of bikes catching up and…..it’s actually way better 👊

Registration opens at 8am - 19th September at the holiday park for both run and bike.

Just over 2 weeks but who’s counting right?😉

We are stoked and humbled to offer x2 free entries to the overall elite MTB winners male and female to the big boy event and probably the biggest event of the summer. The Lake Hāwea Epic.

Open class we haven’t forgotten about you ether. Winners male and female win a free entry to the all new 60km Di**le dash.

We at linger and die do things differently. Keep s**t simple is our theory so we made our own 3 age groups.

- 🦌 Young bucks = under 30

- 🐏 Rams = 30 to 50

- 🐂 Old bulls = 50 plus

So if you enter linger die you’ll fall under one of these 3 age groups. We have 4 classes

- Elite MTB 32km

- Open MTB 21km

- Open E-Bike 21km

- Run 21km

There will be Overall trophy’s for Male and Female of each class plus prizes to age groups in the MTB classes and overall Male / female only 1-3 in the E-bike and Run class.

Unichem Alexandra Linger and die 2026 number 1 female plate - Erin Greene. This year we celebrate 30 years of linger and die and Erin is out right the GOAT having raced 24 editions, multiple wins and has the best back story having raced the very first race in 1996 with her father aged 14. Erin is probably the most respected athlete’s in the country having raced pretty much everything there is on a bike. From short track to multi day and 24hr races there is pretty much no event that doesn’t have her name on it. We are stoked to have Erin back this year so keep an eye out for her mixing things up. 👊👊👊

Unichem Alexandra linger and die 2026 number 1 plate - Brent Miller from Christchurch - Brent, known as the frog but really he’s the GOAT of linger & die. He first competed in 2006 and has only missed 2 races since. Overall winner in 2012 and 2020. Brent and his wife Hannah have been loyal supporters of linger and die and make trip south every year saying “ it’s really the only true MTB race in the country “ and hence why they never miss it. Brent’s an all round good guy who is sure to mix it up again this year with the best.

Just a little reminder that entries are open - a wee snapshot of the trails on course. Particularly for trail runners this is going to be an EPIC course. The open course is fully marked now, follow the blue arrows around Matangi Station MTB

Open course has been provisionally marked. Follow the blue arrows starting just after the rail bridge and past the rail trial on the left. Under 5 weeks to go so get entered now as we will be limiting numbers. linger-and-die.co.nz

Hi Folks,

Last video of these series! This video features another Shockcraft technical terrain, this descent is a timed section from Fabiens to the bottom of Rock Garden. We will create a Shockcraft Strava segment which will be checked at prize giving to judge who was the fastest descender! To be eligible please tag Linger & Die into your Strava ride for that day.

More to come on Shockcraft and the incredible work they do for the bike industry and their support of Linger & Die.
