❤️ Can you help keep our pantry stocked for families staying at Ronald McDonald Domain House?

When a child is in hospital, everyday things like preparing meals shouldn't be another worry for families. The shared kitchens in our Auckland Houses help families create simple, comforting meals while their child receives medical treatment. We're looking for donations of pantry staples to help keep our shelves stocked and our families supported.

We're currently seeking:
🥫 Tinned fruit, tuna, spaghetti, tomatoes, corn or soup
🍝 Pasta and rice
🛒 Other non-perishable pantry staples

📍 Drop-off location:
Ronald McDonald Domain House
Building 11, 2 Park Road, Grafton, Auckland
[Auckland City Hospital grounds]

🕘 Drop-off times:
Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 4.00pm

Our series continues, celebrating our Harbour girls, their softball journeys and the pathways this great game can create!

Denise Swanepoel’s softball journey started long before she began making her mark on the diamonds of New Zealand. 🇿🇦➡️🇳🇿

Growing up in South Africa, Denise first started playing softball for her school. Her talent and love for the game quickly began to show, earning selection for the U13 Blue Sox — an early milestone in a journey that would eventually take her across the world.

After moving to New Zealand, Denise continued doing what she loved — playing ball, working hard and taking every opportunity that came her way. 🥎❤️

🌍 A JOURNEY ACROSS TWO COUNTRIES

From school softball in South Africa to representative and Premier softball in New Zealand, Denise’s journey is a great example of how this game can create opportunities wherever you go.

She has continued to challenge herself at every level, competing alongside and against some of New Zealand’s best young softball talent.

Her performances have earned her recognition at both Harbour and national level, while stepping up to Premier Women’s softball with the Northern Bandits has provided another opportunity to test herself and continue developing her game. 💪🥎

Denise’s softball journey in New Zealand continues to grow:

🥎 Represented North Harbour at National Championships
🥎 Named in the New Zealand U17 Girls Softball Tournament Team following strong performances in Christchurch
🏆 Awarded the U15–19 Gurney Trophy at the North Harbour Softball Awards, recognising her skill and leadership
🥎 Played for ECB Reserve Women, Wildcats and Division 1 Women
🔥 Stepped up to Premier Women’s softball with the Northern Bandits
🇳🇿 Selected for the New Zealand U18 Junior White Sox Wider Training Squad

From a young schoolgirl playing softball in South Africa and earning selection for the U13 Blue Sox, to representing North Harbour and earning her place on the Junior White Sox pathway, Denise’s story shows what can happen when talent meets hard work, determination and a genuine love for the game. ❤️🖤

Heading into the 2026/27 season, Rori will be playing her 6th season of softball in New Zealand, after first getting a taste of the game playing around two years of tee ball back in South Africa. 🇿🇦➡️🇳🇿

💬 WHY SOFTBALL?

For Rori, it’s all about the challenge and the incredible team environment.

There is always something new to learn — whether it’s a new skill, play or position. Every training brings another opportunity to improve, learn and be challenged.

And just as important is the softball whānau. ❤️

Our Girls Who Play Ball series continues, celebrating our Harbour ladies, their softball journeys and where this great game can take them! ❤️🖤

Next up — Tui Panui! 🥎

Tui has been playing softball since she was just 8 years old, starting out in U10 and continuing to grow her game ever since.

🇮🇹 Recently returned from: Italy, where she had the opportunity to play as a USA pick-up player during the off-season — gaining valuable international experience and making some awesome softball memories along the way!

💬 WHY DOES TUI PLAY?

Softball might have started as the “default sport” because of her brothers, but today Tui plays for herself and for some pretty big goals! 💪

Her dream is to one day represent the NZ White Sox 🌿🇳🇿 and experience college softball in the USA. 🇺🇸🥎

After an awesome overseas experience in Italy, Tui is back home and looking forward to a HUGE season ahead — playing across Roosters Prems, MDS Mixed and Metro Reserves, alongside a busy JWSX 2026/27 schedule.

This is what our pathways are all about — giving our young women opportunities, experiences and something BIG to chase! ❤️🖤

North Harbour Softball Association is excited to invite 35+ Men's and 35+ Women's teams to compete in the 2026 NHSA Masters Softball Tournament.

📍 North Harbour Softball – Rosedale Park Stadium, Albany
💲 $300 per team

Tournament Highlights

🥎 1 hour 20-minute games
🏆 $800 Winners Prize
🥈 $300 Runners-Up Prize*

⚠️ Each team must provide an umpire for the duration of the tournament.

🏆 Competition: Extraliga

Kamryn and Tyarn are spending their off-season with Arrows Ostrava, competing in the Czech Republic’s Extraliga.

They’re also taking on leadership roles within the team, with Kamryn as Head Coach and Tyarn as Assistant Coach — sharing their knowledge and experience while continuing their own international softball journeys. 🥎🌍

Both Kam and Ty also represented the NZ White Sox Development Team at this year’s Canada Cup, another fantastic achievement and experience on the international stage. 🌿🇳🇿

We love seeing our Harbour women taking their game around the world — as players, coaches and representatives of New Zealand softball. ❤️🖤
