Mundum Trail Ultra inaugural edition 2026
60k course with 4400+/- elevation starting from lowland of the Nepal’s Koshi river bank 150m to the Kirati highlands at 2200m. The trail trodden by the shamans, traders, and the locals before the roads were built.
And now Nepali national elites are breathing in the life with the sport in their blood- trail and mountain running.

Announcing navigation partnership with Coros_Nepal

Used the Coros Apex 4 to map the full 60km Mundum Trail Ultra route on the Kirati Highlands going from 160m Koshi riverbank to 2200m Tawa Bhanjyang Finish.
Accurate navigation gave us 58.8 km on the watch, and we exported the clean GPX file straight from it- using it for the further data and runner information.
Offline map are available and easily downloadable!

Battery life was outstanding, easily covering the full mapping day with plenty left. Perfect tool for route scouting and official race mapping in the Himalayas.

Early announcement for a new race event in the Koshi province. Brutal 60 k ultra race starting from Kopche 2 hours from Biratnagar airport and 20 minutes high speed boat ride from the famous Baraha kshetra temple.
The race will take the participants from 140 m to max elevation 2417 m in just a day finishing up to the start point of Mundum Trekking trail at Tawa Bhanjyang.
Event dates- 3rd April - show up, bib distribution, race briefing
4th April - race day
5th April - prize distribution ceremony and departure.

As countries with strong sporting traditions celebrate their athletes as national treasures, Nepal must do the same — honouring runners not only when they win, but throughout their demanding professional careers.
Athletes like Sunmaya carry the nation's identity, discipline, and resilience onto the
world stage. Their presence brings immense pride to all Nepalis- which can be a big advantage for the tourism industry too.

Her victories represent a turning point — not only for Sunmaya, but for Nepal's understanding of what trail and mountain running as a professional sport can become. Moving beyond ad-hoc recognition of well-connected athletes from privileged backgrounds, Nepal's sports authorities must establish proper protocols to acknowledge athletes competing at the international level

Nepali trail runner Sunmaya Budha claimed the World Trail Majors title on November 22 by winning the Ultra-Trail Cape Town 100km championship in South Africa, marking one of the greatest achievements in Nepali trail running history.
