โ๐ป๐๐ ๐ฒ๐๐๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐๐ ๐ผ๐๐๐๐โ๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐น๐๐๐ (๐ด๐๐๐๐๐๐๐)โ is a challenging multi-stage trail race passing through some of Nepalโs most beautiful Himalaya landscapes with Mt. Everest & Mt. Gaurishanker as a backdrop. Mt Everest is the highest Mountain of the world and Mt Gaurishanker is considered as a holy mountain for Hindus and Buddhists. The event will be divided into male and female solo race.
Trail Racing has been an emerging trend in Nepal whether that is in cities or remote areas of the country. Trail Races in the Everest and lower Everest regions have been especially successful and trendy both among foreign and local (professional) runners due to the immediate highlight they bring and the new sense of achievement and experience they offer to the participants and organizers both. Inspired by all these successes, we are eager to organize the fourth โ๐ฒ๐๐๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐๐ ๐ผ๐๐๐๐โ๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐น๐๐๐ (๐ด๐๐๐๐๐๐๐)โ.
Runners from all walks of life can take part in this event. โโ๐ป๐๐ ๐ฒ๐๐๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐๐ ๐ผ๐๐๐๐โ๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐น๐๐๐ (๐ด๐๐๐๐๐๐๐)โโ is not just a running event, but it is also a truly once in a life time experience and it will support the local community by organising a various different program such a health camp, education, awareness program to public and homestay program right after the Trail Race.
The Ultra Marathon Event itinerary
1st March 2024โ Runners from outside meet at Khiji phalate and overnight in tea house
2nd March 2024 โ Wake up in the early morning and light breakfast. The start of the Trail run after breakfast. Starting point Khiji phalate, & finish in Khiji phalate.
3rd March 2024 โ Back to own destination (Kathmandu)
The Khiji Demba 42 km. Ultra-Trail Race (Marathon)
The route of the race follows the beautiful pastures between Demba (3350 m) Lhamje dada (3500) and Khiji of the Okhaldhunga District. We can see the splendid scenery of the Himalayas (such as Mt Everest, Mt Makalu, Mt Kanchenjunga, Mt Lhotse, Mt Nuptse and many others) on our race trail.
Demba is newly inaugurated trekking trail with great potential to be a popular lower Himalaya trekking trail. The trail leads us to the remote and unexplored Sherpa village of Okhaldhunga. We can witness beautiful different species of Rhododendron trees which bears our national flower. The area of the trail is home to the endangered species of Red Panda and also our national bird Danphe.
Last time we organized the race in the Khiji phalate-Demba Danda-Lhamje Danda-Dorakharka-Khijiphalate on March, 2023. The ultra-full marathon was a successful program with the participation of more than expected number of people. We saw both national and foreign participants. People also came from remote areas of neighbouring districts. The enthusiast participation of people made the marathon a grand success. Organizing the marathon has also been a great step to promote local tourism. The success of previous marathon has made the organizer community excited for the new program. We hope to organize Khiji Demba Ultrea Trail race with even greater success with well managed team.

Okhaldhunga Tourism Development Committee is a non-profit organization, led by tourism entrepreneurs and social workers with the motive to promote local level tourism in Okhaldhunga region.
