Another major setback for Nepal.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has officially announced the group draw and match schedule for the AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers, but Nepal is NOT included due to the ongoing FIFA suspension on ANFA.

One more international tournament... one more generation of young Nepali footballers denied the chance to represent their nation on the Asian stage.

How many more opportunities must Nepal lose before this crisis is resolved?

🚨 Nepali खेलाडीको नियति: Khep खेल्न झण्डै २०० बढि Sikkimमा 🇮🇳‼️

With Nepali football brought to a standstill following the FIFA suspension, more than 200 Nepali footballers are reportedly playing in local "khep" tournaments across Sikkim and Northeast India during the July–August season to earn match fees. Reports suggest that even some Nepali internationals are among those participating.

Instead of representing Nepal on the international stage, our players are being forced to chase one-off tournament earnings just to make a living.

To make matters worse, Sikkim Express reports that discussions are underway regarding a policy on non-local (Nepali) footballers in Sikkim tournaments.

This is the harsh reality of Nepali football today.

No domestic leagues.
No national team matches.
No footballing future in sight.

Our players deserve opportunities, not uncertainty.

Nepali football cannot afford to waste another generation. 🇳🇵⚽

Today, raised this critical issue in Parliament, urging the government to take immediate steps to get the suspension lifted.

The Thapa brothers are proudly carrying their family's football tradition onto one of South Asia's biggest stages—the 132nd Durand Cup 2026.

🔥 Alan Thapa – the elder brother and a Nepal U-23 international, representing Indian Army Red Football Team.

🔥 Aron Thapa Magar – the younger brother, representing Bodoland FC.

But this story began long before them.

Their father, Andrews Gorkhey Thapa, also played in the prestigious Durand Cup during his playing days. Their elder brother, Dona Thapa, proudly represented Nepal at the international level and is now one of Nepal's most recognized football content creators.
